And that's bad for the customer how?
Re:Google creating wireless network on Thursday January 24, 2013 @09:56PM (#5113693)
Based on the article, it seems like this could be a perk for Google Fiber users. Man, I can't wait to see that service spread to more cities. It'll finally hold the existing providers' feet to the fire.
What's the Python example?

I wanted to pipe in to say the same thing. For the longest time, I thought my Late 2008 15" MBP couldn't handle 8GB (chipset issue, I though). I figured 6GB was the largest, and I just stayed with the 4GB as it came from the factory. Then one day late last year, I realized that a) the Late 2008 15" MBP can take 8GB and b) 8GB of RAM was now VERY affordable.

It made a huge difference. No more constant thrashing of the HDD as it tries to manage a large swap file.

Take a look at vroomvroomvroom.com. It's the site I always use for booking rental cars. Simple UI and no hidden fees.

At first glimpse, it seems a bit intense, but if it's what it takes for us to compete on a global scale, then so be it. I'd take it over the bigco where I'm currently at, if only so I could just continue to learn.

Surely the development efforts on Kiln have been to counter this assumption, no? Have you used Kiln, and if so, what are your thoughts?

It's at least a LOT better than what was there before. It makes people stop, think, and interact.

At first, I thought it was pretty ballsy of them to open this all up, but then I realized that this isn't really where their competitive advantage lies. Plus, I think they probably felt that there was still plenty of room for improvement since it had just been a small team working on it (whereas I have a feeling that Google has a much larger team working on these things). In the end, the community wins by getting to see their designs, and Facebook wins by continuing to iterate on them as the community discussion leads to improvements.
Re:Tim Cook Is Running Apple, but Not Imitating Steve Jobs on Thursday February 03, 2011 @06:21PM (#2177456)
And not only that, I feel like it should be accepted that Jobs was able to really accomplish things at the level at which he did _because_ of the others helping behind the scenes.

Haha, wow. Look at those chairs. So frugal!

I agree. I don't see how one could claim Vishal is unable to focus on a task at hand when he is able to devote hours to perfecting his filmmaking.
Re:Joe Stump: Your city sucks (And so does mine) on Monday November 15, 2010 @10:51PM (#1908967)
I really don't see what's so bad about the weather. I grew up in Florida for most of my life, so some people may think I'm crazy to say this. The weather in Florida was usually too hot for me, and living around here I feel like I get a good balance of seasons (no season in Florida!). This fall has been amazing! Nothing wrong with a bit of snow, too, even though last winter was pretty crazy (my first winter here). I feel like I drove better than locals, and I'm a Floridian who had never driven in snow before. I gave up counting how many cars I saw abandoned off the side of the road after, I presume, they had lost control.

Hard Times Cafe is pretty dang good, too. Chili Mac! Cheap, filling, tasty.

We, The Pizza is brand new and has some good slices. Good Stuff Eatery burgers next door are really good.

I think the best meal I've had in the area, yet, though, has been a burger at Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington.

Even if you think you might not end up doing something totally profound, why live life as such a pessimist? That's certainly no fun at all.
http://thesixtyone.com seems to be doing just that.

Do you have any good examples/tips?

Not to mention a very cool wife, though I couldn't really say much beyond what I've seen on their respective sites.

Which podcast? TWiT? I haven't found a more entertaining (and somewhat educational) podcast than that, including other non-tech-related ones. I'm probably very uninformed, though, so I'd like to hear which others might be worthwhile.
