Re:Blue Origin first human flight on Tuesday July 20, 2021 @12:29PM (#27895885)
The capsule with the humans separated from the rocket a little bit before they hit the 100km attitude mark. Then it landed with parachutes.
I coulnd't understand the idea. This would be a better link I think: https://blog.alexellis.io/the-grow-lab-challenge/
Not sure if serious. A man wants 300-500 bitcoin to build a "thermonuclear reactor" in his garage.
Re:Podcasting, RSS, Openness, and Choice on Thursday April 29, 2021 @08:22AM (#26980215)
"Since RSS only enables a flat audio file to be distributed to consumption platforms, creators gain limited and often inaccurate insight into how the audio is consumed, such as where it is being consumed, how much of the audio is being heard or enjoyed (or not), and whether or not the audio is even being heard at all (and not just automatically “downloaded”)."

Yeah, you cannot track people. A few paragraphs below it started to make sense, the article is basically written by Spotify.

Re:Europe Is Trying to Reclaim Its Lost Chipmaking Glory on Tuesday April 27, 2021 @11:17AM (#26957069)
Please provide some statistics. Your personal opinion is just that. While I can probably agree that the middle class is not doing great the last decade or so, I'm pretty sure the EU has gotten richer.

For example 25 to 31k Euro GDP per capita for 2012-2019

Re:CEOs are hugely expensive – why not automate them? on Monday April 26, 2021 @11:15AM (#26943389)
"If a role can be outsourced, it can be automated."

I really don't see the logic in this statement.

Unfortunately, Bulgaria is not in a much better place. We are in EU and NATO, but not many other differences. Our ruling elite hasn't changed much - still communist secret police related figures and oligarchs.

Romania seems more reformed, they even managed to put some politicians in jail recently.

Re:Central Spain records temperatures of -25°C after snowstorm on Wednesday January 13, 2021 @06:35PM (#25769533)
Well, only the west coast of Europe. And only if the Gulf Stream stops.
Interesting challenge. This is not my area of expertise, but maybe something like this can work for you:

Remotely setup a company in US/Europe.

Setup a Stripe account with the company.

Send money back via transferwise - it says it supports Uganda.

Obviously, this comes with costs. Maybe others have better suggestions.

Re:BMW to shame out-of-warranty UK drivers with smart billboards on Thursday December 24, 2020 @08:49AM (#25527397)
Maybe your country is moving up the food chain. In my eastern-European country it seems like every third car is an old BMW.
Not sure what coffee you are consuming. But if you are making it yourself - hopefully you can find a local coffee roaster. Any semi-good Arabica is not bitter (but it can be more on the acidic side)
Re:X-COM on Tuesday September 22, 2020 @06:12AM (#24552795)
And there are some amazing full conversion mods for OpenXcom. Like X-Piratez. (I cannot open the site now, so google it for a link)
As the topic is about the Black Sea, this could also be interesting for the audience - one of the oldest gold treasures found (4,600 BC to 4,200 BC): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varna_Necropolis

More pictures in the Bulgarian version of the article.

By soon, the article means 2021. Also does anybody really care?

I care about price and refresh rates. Currently I read books on a kindle. I also would like to have a cheap-ish display which I can setup on the wall to show relevant for me info like calendar, TODOs. etc.

And that's it. I don't need another tablet.

Re:Bicycle Geometry Terms on Saturday June 13, 2020 @02:23PM (#23511463)
This is a sad topic for me. It just doesn't exist a premium model all mountain bike, that I have even 1mm of clearance between me and the top tube. Even when standing on my toes.
Re:Gadgets That Refuse to Die on Tuesday April 07, 2020 @11:29AM (#22804099)
I have a cheap-ish bike light with 18650 battery. After it stopped working, I tried to replace it, but I couldn't solder it so well like the factory one. The mtb rides shake a lot, so my solder joints break.

Any hints how to solder it better?

Re:N26 will be leaving the UK on Tuesday February 11, 2020 @01:06PM (#22300791)
Sources on this? I have read similar stories about revolut, but haven't heard about n26.
Re:Open-Source Engine for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on Saturday January 04, 2020 @12:40PM (#21956173)
Nice. There is a open source engine for the original X-Com games - OpenXcom. I recently started playing a total conversion mod for it called X-Piratez. Its a total blast.

Well, that was the ancient name of the city.

Re:The Road to $10k Profit from My Side Project Slack Bot on Monday August 12, 2019 @08:45AM (#20674889)
The topic of bots is interesting to me and I remember your original post here about your project.

Sadly I haven't heard about other successful bot related side projects.

I'm not an expert but your article shows the current account, not trade. And about the trade most of the sources say between 400-500b US$ of trade surplus per year. Which means the exports are about 22% larger than the imports.

For example here: https://wits.worldbank.org/CountryProfile/en/CHN

Re:PayPal will charge up to 4% for currency conversion on Monday August 05, 2019 @04:16AM (#20612250)
I'm not sure what is new. They charged a lot for currency conversion for many years.
Re:Bulgaria tax hacking: An entire nation was hit on Sunday July 21, 2019 @04:35PM (#20493495)
Maybe you are not from Bulgaria. The taxes are pretty low - 10% on pretty much everything - capital gains, on your salary, etc. So there is not much tax evasion.

But there are worse issues here, for example: corruption, stealing of European and government funds, oligarchic control of the power, etc.

Re:Bulgaria tax hacking: An entire nation was hit on Sunday July 21, 2019 @04:05PM (#20493342)
> In modern democracies, this is not just theory. Ignoring a court's order is virtually unheard of.

This might be true for the older/western democracies. Sadly this is not the case in Easter Europe. As we say in Bulgaria - the law is a door in a field. You can go around if you want.

Re:The Truth Behind Electrek's Shady Alliance with Tesla on Wednesday June 26, 2019 @11:25AM (#20285905)
Maybe it's just me, but the author of the article sounds butthurt, and the article itself seems click-baity.
Can confirm. My friends in Bulgaria are already using it. If not for this, I don't know if Apple pay will ever show up here.
> are closing natural gas and nuclear plants to build new lignite coal plants

Do you have a source for this? Specifically the building of new coal plants.

What an over-generalization.
