I find Reddit more engaging than Clubhouse.

Correct. Ultimately, we will end up using Bitcoin as an asset and less for transactions. It is a better version of Gold.
Re:Commerce Department Prohibits WeChat and TikTok Transactions on Friday September 18, 2020 @10:51AM (#24517496)
Shutting TikTok is a good thing for the society at large.
Re:Oracle Wins Bid for TikTok in U.S. on Sunday September 13, 2020 @10:04PM (#24466026)
This should not be a surprise. If you want to monkey around with the codebase and the algorithm, which company is easier to dupe? Microsoft or Oracle?
What do you expect from a 'new age' consultant selling books and concepts to create audience?
Re:Rethinking the App Store on Thursday August 27, 2020 @10:01AM (#24293783)
I am an Apple customer because I believe in their oversight and governance on the App store. I really don't want third party stores and 30% fee seems fair given the access to huge distribution.
Re:The demise of the second-hand bookshop on Sunday August 23, 2020 @07:06PM (#24256046)
Nobody here is talking about EBay but I am able to get the books I want on EBay after the local bookstore closed in my town.
Wow! They are losing a genius in Murthy. This is a bear case for Intel.
20 cents on the dollar is what they have on their minds. But when you add in the right layer of management, factor in productivity gaps due to time zone differences and lack of business context, etc. You are actually paying 80 cents on a dollar. Tech executives know this but they are unable to persuade their business counterparts.
Re:USA buys up world stock of remdesivir on Wednesday July 01, 2020 @10:17AM (#23701567)
They use some medical mumbo jumbo to show that patients spend less time at hospitals compared to other drugs and therefore Remdesivir works. They know how to lobby the scientific community so we will never know the truth. Sick patients will use and pay out of fear. I would love to see an unbiased study at some point if at all that shows the relative efficacy of Hydroxychloroquine with and without zinc and Remdesivir and other drugs.
Re:Mysterious deep-space flashes repeat every 157 days on Monday June 08, 2020 @03:13PM (#23459744)
Every 157 days feels like travel time. Can we isolate everything that in the Universe that takes 157 days from Earth and scanning the sky?
Re:Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz Is Out on Friday May 29, 2020 @10:14AM (#23350179)
Anti-socials are a big market and that is their target audience.
This feels like BS. Sorry! K12 is free. There should be no problem expanding to college and beyond. Also, see no reason to not have a good universal healthcare that is detached from your employer. These are smart ideas worth pursuing.
Re:University of California Will Stop Using SAT, ACT on Thursday May 21, 2020 @10:03PM (#23267997)
I hope they don’t replace one standardized test with another standardized test. Although, that’s exactly what may happen. It is not far fetched to create a more personalized project based testing that factors in race, ethnicity, socio economic status, gender, etc.

Also, if all colleges are created equally, endowed similarly, we may not need a test and follow the K12 model of going to your local college because it is as good as any other college. It is about time we solve education along with healthcare and create equity in the system.

Re:Twitter Will Allow Employees to Work at Home Forever on Tuesday May 12, 2020 @05:36PM (#23160197)
Smart Move! Twitter employees will be more healthier than others if they utilize this time to focus on health and socializing differently. Local communities will become stronger and will help employees work from anywhere. Personally, I would love to work in a warm place during peak winters.
Bookmark this comment. A week or two from now, we will hear covid+ cases at this factory. This is not going to be a great decision.

Not sure if I want to start paying for podcasts without knowing if I will enjoy or learn anything from them.
Folks can at least multi task remotely and do the real work.
We want everyone in the office so we can waste their time in meetings. Peter's principle in action.

Re:New Yorkers consider relocating post coronavirus on Wednesday April 22, 2020 @02:35PM (#22948732)
Right now WFH has a negative public perception because kids are at home and nobody can leave their home. So there is a lot of frustration that I can understand. But once it is all over, imagine folks working remotely and able to move around the world with freedom and bring more creativity because of their newfound happiness.
Are there any good tutorials to get started? What major sites are currently using Elixir?
Re:New Yorkers consider relocating post coronavirus on Monday April 20, 2020 @02:54PM (#22927074)
WFH will become norm and folks can move around easily.
