Well in the example above the manufacturer still has incentive to provide the manual's and guides that describe how to use their products, and if that is subsequently served by an LLM that's totally fine. The only sites that LLM's would have a negative effect on are those that are only hosting content for the ad views.
Same, early 50s and this is like the heyday of coding where you could rapidly iterate on things and actively make leaps and bounds of progress. Super fun.

Agreed - this seems like a no brainer, surely this is something that is being worked on.
They just do the same thing with regular homes :)

Re:Open Sauce is a confoundingly brilliant Bay Area event on Saturday July 26, 2025 @11:56AM (#44695024)
I agree that it was a bit meh, maker faire with a small side of youtubers is an accurate description but overall I enjoyed it and there were definitely some cool booths. Saturday was also ridiculously busy making it hard to navigate and interact with folks, Sunday was much better in that regard.
Are there any examples of these types of reconstructions where the reconstruction has been performed blind on the skull of someone for which we have photos?

Re:Chaos in the Medium: Watercolour Plotting on Friday June 14, 2024 @07:10PM (#40686035)
A drag knife setup might make the world of difference here, nice little project though.
I've always had it somewhat but COVID late last year definitely kicked it up a notch for a while, it did fade back to essentially being unnoticeable after a couple of months though. Hope yours fades too, it's a nuisance for sure.
A model 3 is no heavier than a 3 series.
Often times I'll look to position the mouse and then look at something else when I actually hit the button.

Perhaps writing a blog post about it was ill advised if privacy was the goal.
Re:LG washing machine sending 3.7GB of data a day on Saturday January 13, 2024 @07:41PM (#38986248)
Just checked mine which is used all the time and it's about 1.5mb per week.
Yeah same here, 67 orders and no issues, perhaps it's a location thing?
I flipped back to FF about a year ago, performs flawlessly and all the extensions I used on Chrome are available too.
If these folks didn't use the water, what alternate use would it be put to?
Brutal - hope you're able to stay cool, is that 47 in the shade?
Re:Don Knuth Plays with ChatGPT on Saturday May 20, 2023 @12:11PM (#36013118)
Perhaps we shouldn't expect these models to know everything about everything. What sources did you yourself use to learn this knowledge and did the training data incorporate them? It's a bit like asking a software engineer law questions, you can only draw from what you've studied. I feel as though what's missing is the ability for the model to understand what it doesn't know or cite sources. It's not like humans know everything either.
It wouldn't exist without a human actively creating/capturing it so doesn't seem as though that's an actual problem. Does a photograph involve significant human authorship - choosing a prompt or choosing to click the button on your DSLR is itself the act of authorship.
Yet without stackoverflow chatgpt wouldn't be particularly helpful
Re:95% of Bay Area Cities Lost Zoning Authority on Thursday February 23, 2023 @12:12PM (#34913330)
A law was recently passed that allows you to sell and move and keep your property tax rate that was designed to alleviate this issue.
I take it that nobody is thinking sabotage?
It does provide something for humans to do, a whole ecosystem is set to spring up employing millions of people churning out dirty limericks and jokes about religion. Tis a glorious future indeed.
