Sounds like malarky to me. Sounds like a group to understand something outside their reach; finding subjective data points to further categorize the problems allowing themselves to believe they now have more of a handle on than they did before. I don't believe they know anything that adds more value.

Obviously I'm jumping to a point beyond the notion of a soul.

Nice branding with "accelerator". What do you think one is trading for money? Even in a simple equity trade you are giving up more than just equity... you are also putting on a leash which will alter your original being. VC's and soul trading aside, it's the exclusion part that makes the deed evil.

And yeah, I expected down voting from a group of people flocking to a VC forum like HN.

Most startups need all the help they can get. Google has decided to provide help only to those who have sold their souls away. Seems rather evil to me.

As I remember it, your original write up painted a picture showing that you were in dire straights as a consequence of the situation. That came across, to me, as going too far. The outcome of your situation was certainly impacted by them, but really you put yourself in the situation and therefore it's outcome. While I do think they were being cheap, they did not land you there - you did.

I hope it works out better for you in the future. I'm pretty sure it will, you obviously have the skill... just need to find a better fit.

Re:Ask HN: Comfortable chair for small space on Friday September 05, 2014 @12:03AM (#8272268)
That's odd. I would think your back would be more of a problem; after-all with the kneeling chair you move half the load off your spine (since you still sit) with the remainder weight being split across two knees... with a traditional chair you have 100 percent on your spine.) You must have weak knees and a strong back! :)

The chair looks big in my photo, but it's really just that my desk is so tiny.

Search on "low cost kneeling office chair". Just look at the small /simple ones. I swapped out my $1000 chair for one that I found at Staples for $100.

This chair also helped to eliminate my back pains while keeping my posture in good standing (by putting the weight on your knees you're taking it off your spine).

It's also very comfortable for longer sittings.

The real lesson to be learned: don't jump out on a limb without pre-established safety net.

Moving to a new country seems like pretty big risk to take on a 3 month contract. Heck I wouldn't move from a current job to another one in town without a signing bonus to cover the risk.

Re:Choose Firefox Now, Or Later You Won't Get A Choice on Saturday August 16, 2014 @11:09AM (#8186439)
The vast majority of users are not developers and wouldn't even spend the time paying any attention to any of this. The only way Firefox is going to survive is by being 1. Easy to use 2. Fast 3. Secure and the priority is in that order. Right now Firefox fails, on all three, when compared to Chrome.

Want Firefox to succeed? Then they will need to change priorities.
