Its not just Europe, there are breaches at US companies too.

Ask HN: Do you still read clean code and software architecture books?

Now that we have coding agents writing all our code for us, are you still needing to reach out and read books such as clean code and other software architecture books?I think they are now more important than ever as there is more code being pushed out than one can read to see if it is robust as the agents claim.

Re:Redundancy Is the Engine of Progress on Saturday October 24, 2026 @11:36AM (#50222300)
In the 1950s, there were hundreds of thousands of telephone switchboard operators. Today, they're all gone. There used to be well over a million professional typists too, but word processing largely killed those jobs as well.

That is true, but this time this is at a global scale at affects general work and it will accelerate faster.

What happens to former human workers when global unemployment rises faster with a disappearing buying power and consumption from humans as their income vanishes and their savings are all spent on food and rent?

Re:How to run a city builder on 16 MHz on Saturday October 24, 2026 @11:30AM (#50222240)
We have all of this running on a 16 MHz machine, yet on todays computers with 32GB RAM we have highly memory intensive desktop apps that use java and even electron.

Even a text editor today written in javascript using Electron will take 1GB+ without considering the user could open multiple documents which can increase the RAM usage.

Re:Crystal 1.22.0 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @10:30AM (#50195928)
Is Crystal even relevant at all now?

It isn't interoperable with Ruby and I don't know of any reputable companies using Crystal.

It just looks like Ruby, but it isn't Ruby and it is a compiled language? OK?

I am not sure why I should learn this language?

This is great technical read.

Thank you very much.

This needs to be said, and this language cannot be saved.

Same here
I don't think they care, they will just block this functionality in future updates.
Why though? Isn’t RHEL fully supported and used heavily in production?

Re:What Palantir Actually Does on Monday September 21, 2026 @06:15PM (#49794178)
I think everyone would like to know what Palantir really does. I don't really know myself.
I'd wait a bit on this just in case

Re:Bottles' Founder Has Managed to Run Microsoft 365 on Linux on Monday September 14, 2026 @09:00PM (#49706392)
This is a god awful ad-fuelled website and it is freezing my machine.

Can you please use a better source instead of the one you posted?

The US will likely put sanctions back on Syria if they do this.

This is a great article and this woman is an inspiration to many.

Likely one of my favourite reads here.

I am also having this issue right now.
