Sounds like something a third party would do.
Re:New York City should carefully measure a new tree on Friday October 02, 2026 @11:54PM (#49941241)
Lidar is an awesome way to find tall trees!
This article gave me an interesting thought. If you believe these companies are going to birth true all powerful AGI than we are in a simulation already. Which is a pretty useless data point. So my new thought is what if they can make a minor deity? Good or bad, this is far more interesting.
So if you use the product you are helping with "midwifing a deity.”.

Is this still growing?
Re:How did AMD Ryzen get 50% faster in two years? on Friday September 18, 2026 @08:55PM (#49762273)
2022 to 2024
I want sliders to control the feed.
Permitted maximum of 10 grams(2 nickels) of CO2 per hour for every person in the US. 33 million tons * 2000 ton/pound * 454 g/pound / 365 days in a year / 24 hours in a day / 342.6M people in us = 9.984 grams
Re:Muse Code and Muse Spark 1.2 on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @03:16PM (#49187586)
Muse Spark 1.2 is a coding-focused update to Muse Spark 1.1, with improvements in code generation, complex debugging, codebase understanding, and end-to-end developer workflows. In Muse Spark 1.2, we significantly scaled up training compute on coding tasks while expanding training environment diversity. The model also maintains its strength in other key areas like general agents.
This is cool and useful. I would love to see the drive time version.
Yes, this the same Toto you see on sinks.
Other AIs are laughing at this flex as their Dyson sphere projects are already set into motion.
Re:I'm 60 years old. Claude Code has ignited a passion again on Saturday March 07, 2026 @10:53AM (#47288712)
Your comment is timeless. Just replace your tech keywords with those from the past or the future.
Re:Semiquincentennial $1 Coin Candidate Designs on Wednesday December 17, 2025 @09:23PM (#46308269)
It does make sense for dollar coins to hit mainstream as pennies and nickels will disapper before all coins do.
Odd the other comment(tree) is collapsed? I liked the article and the pictures of the palm trees(plants) are cool.
It would be a major break through alone if they came up with a useful and lasting metric to track what "double" is: "Genesis Mission has the goal of doubling the productivity and impact of U.S. research and development by pairing scientists with intelligent systems that reason, simulate, and experiment at extraordinary speed."
I had to search around and feel like a dork not knowing this. I have my data backed up, but I keep the SSDs because it's nice to have the OS running like it was... I guess I need to be cloning the drives to ISOs and storing on spinning rust.
Is the next step really is space based data centers?
Re:A small number of samples can poison LLMs of any size on Thursday October 09, 2025 @01:29PM (#45530663)
Sounds like SEO. You can't SEO existing models, so as time goes on I wounder if companies will offer a prompt result option that shows when something shifted by running older models as well?
Re:Ask HN: What's a good 3D Printer for sub $1000? on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @07:53PM (#45282973)
Why? He said he was going to enclose. Is this a fumes thing?
Re:Ask HN: What's a good 3D Printer for sub $1000? on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @03:04PM (#45280008)
Great answers exist, but will be ephemeral. In other words this is a journey. Pick what your into now and ask the question. What's a good gun for sub $1000? What's a good computer for sub $1000? What's a good sewing machine for sub $1000?
Re:Man, 34, has tooth implanted in eye to restore his vision on Friday September 12, 2025 @01:08PM (#45224271)
This is wild read and worth a pool upgrade. He now has about 20/40 or 20/30 vision in that eye, but needs to wear (normal I think) sun glasses.
From 2012. 13 years ago. It's interesting to note if we are talking just the desktop almost nothing has changed from 2012.

Re:Children of the Geissler Tube on Saturday August 23, 2025 @07:02PM (#44999811)
OK, I get it now: "The article conflates two parallel branches with shared glass/vacuum know-how when it starts talking about diodes."
Re:Children of the Geissler Tube on Wednesday August 20, 2025 @10:03AM (#44962078)
Core claim: “Geissler tubes as a computer ancestor” I was really surprised at this and had to verify it “: Fair: Geissler’s 1857 gas-discharge tubes popularized controlled glow discharges and directly led to Crookes tubes, cathode rays, and gas-discharge lighting. Earlier glow experiments existed (Hauksbee, Faraday), but Geissler standardized the form that kicked off the tech tree. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geissler_tube” It is odd that Heinrich Geissler does not have a bigger place in history. I guess he was just a “toy” builder… Also interesting: Most keyword searches treat ß ≈ ss, so “Geißler” and “Geissler” have the same search results.
