All these weird things happening a couple of months before their ipo which is probably mid-2027 .
Basically me as a junior AI engineer . It was frustating it starts with just using AI to reply to questions you don't know the answer too and it ends with fully automated ai answeringmachine.

okay I overdid with the word official.

Re:Our position on open-weights models on Monday July 27, 2026 @06:32PM (#49076327)
"'To summarize my and Anthropic’s position, we have not and are not advocating for a ban on open-weights models as a category. We should instead focus on keeping powerful chips out of authoritarian hands, stopping industrial-scale distillation, and requiring safety testing of all sufficiently capable models, open and closed." This is all I needed to know: Dario Amodei is a f*king lizard who wants to create the next AI oligarchy. Instead of just signing the letter, he's bitching and denying that he opposes open-source models. I wonder if any Anthropic employees actually disagree with him.
Honestly speaking, this is an old trick by the government. They see AI (LLM) as a nuclear weapon which, in my opinion, outside of hallucinations, malicious prompt injections, and AI psychosis, is not an actual threat.

The reason I think Anthropic is doing this—preventing distillation and making distillation way harder for China—is that if you geoblock this and have strict rules around proxies, it works. I can't imagine Dario Amodei not knowing the consequences of his own policies.

As for open-source models, have you ever tried a distilled Claude Sonnet model (lordx64/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-Claude-4.7-Opus-Reasoning-Distilled-IQ4_XS-GGUF)? I did via Hugging Face, and they are quite shit; they are very slow and eat up your VRAM. Open-source models have a long way to go to catch up to closed models.

So everyone saying we should use open-source models—that will never happen. For example, macOS is closed-source and Linux is open-source. Which one has a greater market share? macOS does, because of its privacy and security. "Let's wait and see how this works out. This sucks for enterprises and customers outside of the USA, but with a policy like 'America First,' you can expect this from any president in the White House.

Re:GitHub's Fake Star Economy on Monday April 20, 2026 @10:29AM (#47834900)
If you asked a typical person outside of San Francisco or Silicon Valley, nine times out of ten they wouldn’t have a clue who he is. However, as a co-founder of OpenAI and the former Director of AI at Tesla, he is widely known and respected in the tech world—especially for coining the term 'vibecoding.'" He comes in as second on the list of Github Users Global Ranking right behind mister linux: https://wangchujiang.com/github-rank/.
Re:GitHub's Fake Star Economy on Monday April 20, 2026 @09:36AM (#47834142)
Very simply, you need to see VCs as branding companies who give people with many followers brand deals. VCs think that if you have a lot of stars, you must have hit product-market fit — or something close — because many developers have started using your open-source tool. This isn’t necessarily always the case. Every weekend project from Andrej Karpathy gets loads of stars because he is the most famous person on GitHub. What I’ve noticed a lot is that the repos with the most stars most of the time already came from big companies open-sourcing their tools, or people building free versions of paid software.
Re:Is "Tokenmaxxing" a Flex? on Saturday April 18, 2026 @03:17AM (#47813850)
Definitely going on with the fact some CEO’s are even claiming wanting to pay their staff in tokens instead of equity is a sign of cheap labor. https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/17/tokenmaxxing-is-making-dev...
Re:Is "Tokenmaxxing" a Flex? on Saturday April 11, 2026 @04:42PM (#47733862)
Apparently, 'tokenmaxxing' is the new way of showing off how productive you are as an engineer. Honestly speaking, I don't think it's a 'flex' to have burned so many tokens on just one feature or MVP project, especially with the rate limits Anthropic is using.
