Re:Sludge Videos Are Taking over TikTok–and People's Mind on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @04:09PM (#38943184)
These videos always seem to be posted by content harvesters and I presumed the side-by-side video was intended to add randomness to avoid content detection.
911 will accept test calls. You can call the office ahead of time and arrange a test call.

Alternatively you can dial 911, inform the operator it is not an emergency but a test call, and have them verify the phone number and location.

It's my understanding that if you have a forced-air system, closing vents is detrimental due to the pressures involved. Closing the vents adds strain to your blower and redirects the, now higher pressure, air to other parts of the house.

I'm no HVAC guru, this is simply what I've been told. Can someone enlighten me, or how does this technology approach this situation?

These made some rounds on YouTube on competitive eating channels. The bag warns you that you should start small and see how you tolerate them.
Jenkins is build server software. It's existence is related to the story only because it was a Jenkins developer.

'git push --force' pushes your copy of the repository to the remote, regardless of what the remote has. He basically told GitHub, "Hey here's the /real/ copy of the repository, the copy you have is totally wrong" and it overwrote all the history because his copy was a few months out of date.

Re:Ask HN: How do I get into data mining/analysis? on Tuesday March 26, 2013 @11:38AM (#5443994)
Is there a particular area I should look at? Not a lot of activity in Indianapolis :\

Ask HN: How do I get into data mining/analysis?

Some background: Bachelors in comp sci, currently full time internal developer. Unfortunately, I only took one stats course in college, about 3 years ago, and my data mining course was worthless.I'd really like to get into data analysis and data mining. I do a fair amount of basic reporting right now, but it's nothing outside of basic select-and-display database reports. For example, right...

Considering Apple patented the clamshell design from the Macbook Air recently, I expect this design to shift radically.
Re:CryEngine 3 soft-body physics simulator on Tuesday May 29, 2012 @11:06PM (#4041181)
I'm glad you mentioned this. BeamNG was actually founded out of a game called Rigs of Rods, which in turn was influenced by 1NSANE.

What you ask for is possible in Rigs of Rods (although soft-body on soft-body is usually enabled on a per-vehicle basis). There is a plane that ships with RoR (the Antonov) that actually starts to wobble and shake apart at high speeds (I believe above 150 knots).
