NOT ONCE has this article mentioned NEPAL.
Buddha was born in Nepal. Omission of these facts in mainstream articles like these has robbed Nepal of its history.

If you had to communicate ROI for new software engineer/ developer/ programmer to the higher management, how would you do that? Is there a maths to it? I have options like hire a freelancer, hire on contract from an agency or hire a full time developer.

I'm trying to get some metrics on agile adoption, success and failure of projects using agile frameworks. Is there a site that does these analysis and has data?

We are at desperate times where moral values are threatened.
More and more people these days say 'That's not my problem', 'I choose to live this way, I don't care about the rest'. In other words we are very individualistic.I'm not concerned with Donald Trump but the people who think its ok to win at any cost.
How can internet / social apps help uplift moral standards of human kind?
Sorry for stupid question but What's IC?

I'm at the crossroads. In my current role as software development manager, I wear different hats - sometimes I am project manager, sometimes Business Analyst, sometimes programmer, scrum master, product owner, or just a support guy.
What is the next role or progression after Software Development Manager role? How have you all progressed?
I more of lack of desire to be a full time programmer, mainly due to my health issues.
The team is mostly settled, we have database programmer who pretty much handles everything, programmers who work directly under business analysts taking tasks from them. I find myself not adding any value to the team. In other words, apart from day to day admin tasks and some occasional instances I am hardly needed. So I'm thinking what next?
Not looking to be a full time developer,my health condition doesn't allow for it anymore.

I've been a software development manager for more than 2 years now. I used to code more at the beginning then I let me team focus on code, technical aspects as I trust them and mainly I would like them to have the freedom.
I sometimes write API code but very basic ones.
Most of my day is spent on meetings, support to end users, writing user stories, and some admin tasks like looking for...
I'm currently going through the transition. One I've learned one fact - People, People, People. It's all about people skills. People with emotions, people with attitude, people with ego and some great people as well. And you'd learn, you have to rely on things that aren't in your control. Age doesn't matter. What matters is how mature you are. Depends on whether you can smile and move ahead even when you know its not what you think is right.

As a internal IT team, our challenge is to have a clean process of request, changes, test and release. However, we have people just coming directly to developers and they want things done immediately. That's good for the users but it just creates a mess. We have hard time tracking who did what and often get ourselves into this loop of fixing things. Once fix breaks another and we are in this...
We print it in a paper, seal it in envelope and give it to company owner. He then keeps it in his Safe.
Wouldn't the slippers cause WorkSafe issues?

I work in a IT department of Construction Company. Most people are project managers / directors / accountants / administrators. Since they dress formally, our IT department follows the formal dress code too. However, I'm not so keen on it and would love to wear something casual. What do you guys wear to work?
we don't want to filter out, but manage.

We already have a Software Development Manager who looks after very old system and can't handle new technologies like web, devops. We have a developer who has been handling multiple web projects, implementing new devops technologies, setting standards and helping other developers. He also manages requirement and does sprint planning. We want to give him Software Development Manager title but we...
Wow, wasn't thinking about that part. Freelancing does comes with a cost.
Ahh Heidelberg, We should definitely catch-up for a beer or two.
Where about in (outer, outer) Sydney ?
So you mean its difficult to find projects?
.NET, MS SQL, mostly web development - backend, not getting much time from full time work to learn and update skills, so hoping freelancing will provide that opportunity
Very good points, thanks for taking time to write this. Always good to know an Aussie making progress overseas ! Cheers !
Very encouraging !
I'm in Ivanhoe. Coffee would be great for a technical chat !
So I guess you're a Hawks supporter ?
My Major Skills are .NET, MS SQL, mainly backend with APIs - comfortable with JSON and XML - I'll certainly shoot you an email once I'm ready. Thanks a lot for some hope.
Cheers !

Interested to know the freelancing scenario in Australia, mainly in Melbourne. I'm planning to leave a full time office job to do freelancing. Not sure how to go about finding clients and if it's possible to actually do it full time.
