Re:Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (July 2014) on Tuesday July 01, 2014 @01:02PM (#7972012)
SEEKING WORK - Washington, DC (Remote)

I'm an experienced full-stack web developer, specializing in Node.js on the server. I've worked on multiple production projects for startups and as a freelancer, and I have experience with JS, Python, PHP, MongoDB, SQL, and more.

I'm currently working at Pilot (http://gopilot.org), organizing educational high school students across the country. I'm looking for 1-2 freelance projects over the summer, since Pilot is a non-profit.

I'm passionate about building cool stuff, and I'd love to work with you on anything!

Checkout my website at http://andrin.ga, or shoot me an email at peter AT andrin.ga

Ask HN: VPN or PaaS for a Node.js application?

I'm working on a startup project and we're trying to decide where to host our node.js web application. I like the ease of use of some PaaS, but it seems like they are a little more expensive as you scale. Which is better, PaaS or VPS? What provider should I use?

Re:A Hackathon for High Schoolers on Sunday March 16, 2014 @11:36PM (#7412827)
Another shameless promotion: I'm part of an organization called Pilot (http://gopilot.org), and we're doing just that - planning hackathons for the students who wouldn't normally attend one. We've got a DC event coming up on March 29 (http://dc.gopilot.org), so if anyone's in the DC area we'd love to have you as a mentor!
They're on their second iteration right now, but I would point out that they've given free upgrades to all of their current explorers, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing going forward
So whats your opinion on Glass? Do you think its worth it for me to buy it?

Ask HN: I'm a 16 y/o developer who just got a Glass invite - what should I do?

Hey everyone,So today I just received a Google Glass invite, from an Explorer friend who surprised me with it. I think having Glass would be really cool, and I'd love to play with the SDK and make some apps for it (the potential to be the "First Glass app for X" reminds me of the hype for developers when the App Store first launched on iOS). However, the $1500 price tag is rather high, and...

Re:Google Fonts: more than a trillion served on Friday November 29, 2013 @05:18PM (#6821253)
In return for what? Google's not profiting off of Google Fonts, because I'm sure that whatever data they get from it could be collected by their other services.
I had to have a little fun somewhere...
Thanks! I'll look into that.
I used node to build other parts of the site - namely the blog, a link shortener, and a few APIs I wrote just for my own other projects.
I haven't gotten around to optimizing for tablets yet... Desktop and Mobile were my highest priorities. But thanks for the advice!
Thanks for your advice! I'm a firm believer in constructive criticism, so thats exactly why I posted it here.

I had originally designed the color changes to further differentiate each section, because otherwise there wasn't much seperating each section.

I also had written the page to be able to be linked to by each title, (#about, #resume, #projects, etc) but I didn't think about updating the hash fragment... So you're saying I should update the browser URL using javascript?

Once again, thanks for your advice!

No, thats awesome advice! Thanks!
