Re:Running an indie game store on Wednesday September 17, 2014 @04:23PM (#8332170)
What would you suggest if your OS project was bound to MIT and there's no way of introducing a commercial license?

heatmap.js (my pet project) unfortunately has those constraints and I'm currently trying a mixed model of high priced premium support and donations.

Donations got me almost nothing, high priced premium support got me a few hundred dollars within a few weeks after I introduced it- more than I made the last 4 years with donations.

I'm also trying binpress as a secondary channel to sell support. will see how it performs over time, but binpress looks promising so far

Re:How to prevent screenshots in a web browser on Monday July 14, 2014 @01:29PM (#8032048)
Could you please elaborate what's offending you? (author here) for me it was just a fun experiment I didn't intend to offend anyone
Re:Image Protection on the Web on Friday July 11, 2014 @08:50PM (#8023296)
Without CSS it still displays the encrypted image with the Encryption / Decryption - technique, doesn't it?
Re:Image Protection on the Web on Friday July 11, 2014 @07:42PM (#8023111)
Yes you are right, the main purpose of the last demo is to try to prevent a screen shot (ignoring all other techniques to obtain the image). thank you I, already forgot about it and will change that
Re:Image Protection on the Web on Friday July 11, 2014 @07:36PM (#8023099)
that reminds me of another technique I used but didn't describe in the article which could be interesting for you:

encode the viewer's IP into the image (with steganography, wrote a small script for that) on the server (every request). whenever your image pops up somewhere in the web you know which IP address is to "blame" (easily bypassed with IP obfusication software though :) )

Re:Image Protection on the Web on Friday July 11, 2014 @06:51PM (#8022967)
for me it was primarily about the technical challenge of trying to prevent a screen shot in a web browser.

Indeed, it would be great if Mozilla did work against those techniques. I really don't like websites that implement them...

Re:Image Protection on the Web on Friday July 11, 2014 @06:40PM (#8022924)
author here: I do not advocate using any of the techniques, please don't use it, it's terrible and will give your users headaches! I'm against ressource "protection" on the web, what's on the internet should be fully consumed by users of it! The article describes just a few experiments I set up to see how far someone could go if it WAS important ( "for a few minutes, let's assume things on the web should be protected…" ). Thanks for the feedback so far!
