Re:Switch Lowering in GCC on Saturday October 31, 2026 @12:38PM (#50317666)
I assume 34 in the compact_7() one was supposed to be 35, and edx was supposed to be used at some point in the bittest() one (unless i'm missing something lol)
Re:Example.com Just Launched the Biggest Redesign in Decades on Monday October 05, 2026 @09:54PM (#49973234)
For some reason the localization still requires javascript... (I'm pretty sure the transition could have been done in just CSS as well)
Re:Your ePub Is Fine. Kobo Disagrees. Blame Adobe on Monday June 15, 2026 @06:06AM (#48539080)
imho for a standard epub there should be as little CSS as possible
Re:Building an HTML-first site doubled our users overnight on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @12:46PM (#48479047)
yeah editing all the footers and navigation parts in html is too annoying to me so i've resorted for my websites to just a back button to a page that has links to everything else lmao
Re:WSL 2 is getting faster Windows file system access on Friday June 05, 2026 @10:28AM (#48413043)
i've never noticed slow file access through wsl, but ive also only used it to compile small c programs tbh
these still exist on windows though? you just hold alt
no idea about your account but i would suggest getting email + other accounts for all of your acquaintances asap lmao
Re:Coreutils for Windows on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @01:35PM (#48373415)
Is this only on windows 11 or does it support 10 as well? (i cant access the site rn because of wifi)
Re:Stop Ruining It on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @11:17AM (#48371395)
every day i am more glad i cannot update to 11 because windows 10 seems to be better in every way
i started using duckduckgo after google added ai, and it runs way faster [i use lite.duckduckgo.com :3]

edit: my school blocks all search engines other than google though XD

Re:If AI writes your code, why use Python? on Tuesday May 12, 2026 @09:01AM (#48107644)
tbh python seems really unreadable to me, and i'm saying that as someone who's first [non-Scratch] programming language was that. stuff with syntax closer to C or javascript seems easier to see [C?] where stuff starts and ends
Re:Bring Back Idiomatic Design on Monday April 13, 2026 @09:13AM (#47751477)
the only locale i know about is the windows one that's hidden in some menu that i had to set to japan to get some random application to run, and now all of my backslashes look like yen symbols :P ... maybe i won't get mm/dd/yyyy now!
i feel like this is going to be really dangerous tbh, especially if it starts blocking informational content
This is why I generally prefer CW/Content warning; it is basically saying "this is what this contains", instead of putting any implications of it being triggering. So CW: suicide, for example, is just for anyone who doesn't really want to read about suicide at the moment, whether it's because they want a more upbeat story or somebody they knew just died
ive heard that poob has it for you!
Re:Windows native app development is a mess on Monday March 30, 2026 @07:26AM (#47572917)
God, i finally understand why people hate on windows xD
Re:Windows native app development is a mess on Friday March 27, 2026 @01:35PM (#47545773)
> removal of title bars

they did what??? [i'm still on 10 because 11 won't run on my laptop </3]

Re:LibreOffice and the Art of Overreacting on Thursday March 26, 2026 @10:01AM (#47530586)
I honestly forgot there was even a "base" UI to open documents from, i use libreoffice largely for spreadsheets and just open the spreadsheet program directly XD
Re:So you want to write an “app” (2025) on Monday March 09, 2026 @09:58PM (#47318284)
> most web apps load faster than their native counterparts these days

maybe i'm doing something wrong, but from what i've noticed, the browser is usually what takes up most of my computer's resources.

also, i assumed the reasoning for using a native app was for offline use, honestly.

Re:10% of Firefox crashes are caused by bitflips on Thursday March 05, 2026 @09:19PM (#47270014)
firefox crashes... decently often for me, but it's usually pretty clear what the cause is [having a bunch of other programs open]. every time i can recall my computer bluescreening [in the last year~, since that's how long ive had it] it was because of firefox tho.

this may have something to do with the fact that my laptop is from 2017, however.

i'd argue a discord is never really "public", since there's still a barrier to entering and it's easy to get banned
i wonder if this could be used to make a jailbreak possible :3
it's more just a personal want to be able to see what I can do on my own tbh; i don't generally judge other people on that measure

although i do think Steve Jobs didn't make the iPhone /alone/, and that a lot of other people contributed to that. i'd like to be able to name who helps me and not say "gemini". again, it's more of a personal thing lol

i agree. it seem like an expectation these days to use AI sometimes... for me i am happy not using it at all, i like to be able to say "I made this" :)
Re:TikTok's 'Addictive Design' Found to Be Illegal in Europe on Friday February 06, 2026 @01:42PM (#46916495)
yeah, the issue is that there really can't be one "do-it-all" tool. even duolingo doesn't really teach grammar iirc [which really means one can't become fluent tbh]. one kinda has to set up the parts by oneselves, but that's a bit difficult to get used to
Re:The rise of one-pizza engineering teams on Friday February 06, 2026 @12:53PM (#46915943)
how big are these pizzas, i almost always eat 4 [if i'm warming up a frozen one i'd have all of it tbh]
Re:TikTok's 'Addictive Design' Found to Be Illegal in Europe on Friday February 06, 2026 @12:27PM (#46915624)
duolingo is pretty bad overall, sadly most better alternatives [zB: anki flashcards] are a bit less shiny and more difficult to set-up for less tech-oriented people
Re:TikTok's 'Addictive Design' Found to Be Illegal in Europe on Friday February 06, 2026 @12:26PM (#46915609)
i can't really concentrate well on long video content outside of specific cases, so there's that. honestly though i feel like shorts aren't the solution, there should just be more text content [eg: tutorials] in addition to video things. [every time someone says something is "only communicateable through video/audio" i die a little bit inside...]
once i had to import some xml and just put it in a hidden div since html allows any tag names XD
