It's just a common Wordpress theme:

This story is not about liberalness, it's about a levy and the EU court ruling. The country comparison is like comparing apples to oranges. I'm an ex UK citizen who now lives in the Netherlands and you couldn't be further off the mark sir.
Re:Show HN: Real-time apps without the hassle on Thursday March 27, 2014 @09:45AM (#7480297)
And... it's gone down under the eager weight of HN.
Re:The iPad Mini and the cost of Retina on Tuesday November 13, 2012 @04:35AM (#4777195)
Maybe it's time they tried a low power amoled display?
There is nothing underground about Tech-house unfortunately.

6ft under would be a blessing though.

Everything about it looks like a render, the desk texture, the lighting of the white leads. Looks nice though.
Is it me or is there a recent trend of more and more apple/steve jobs/ios threads? There seems to be so many of them, when ios6 came out there were quite literally a wall of related threads on the front page.

Is it because most people these days use macbooks for development?

Re:Joyent ending "lifetime" hosting accounts on Friday August 17, 2012 @05:14AM (#4395617)
That's the nature of the business I'm afraid. But I have found some reliable hosts through the site and some very established hosts used to make offers before the siteowner left.

Webfaction is also good if you want to run a no hassle Django installation. I initially got an account when I was learning Django and there weren't many Django friendly shared hosts out there. I have kept it to this day as their hosting panel is still pretty useful. They also have a bunch of automatic installs for rails, cherrypy, pylons, pyramid, subversion and trac etc. I've since moved on to do it myself on VPS but I still think Webfaction offers something different with their "framework" application approach.
I think both sites have just gone down. :)

Just came here to say SQLbuddy. http://sqlbuddy.com/ Perfect for quick tasks.
Re:Debian Handbook on Thursday May 10, 2012 @03:44PM (#3955556)
Thanks! I don't know if I could fix all the grammar, but the spelling nazi in me wants to correct those mistakes for sure.

Maybe the PDF is designed for smaller screens . It looks better on an iPad or android tablet. I used the .mobi instead to wipe out the font anguish. ;-)

Re:Debian Handbook on Thursday May 10, 2012 @08:52AM (#3953188)
Reading the PDF version now. So far my main criticisms are:

Pretty ugly font for a manual.

Translation is a little iffy, bad spelling, bad grammar and strange sentence structure.

Graphics and diagrams are quite lossy and low resolution.

It could definitely do with another proofread or three.

But If you can get past these things it seems pretty thorough and has plenty of good info in there. Hopefully none of it was lost in translation.

I also donated and am happy to finally see it out there especially under creative commons.

Code worked for me, I got Web Standards Solutions and CSS Mastery.
Re:Linux Mint Pulls Ahead of Ubuntu on Tuesday November 08, 2011 @09:03AM (#3210724)
How is that more realistic? People using Ubuntu as a search term does not accurately reflect install base.
Re:Ex Google PM criticizes new Reader layout on Wednesday November 02, 2011 @05:38AM (#3185959)
They ruined a really impressive web application. Thanks to a HN recommendation I've fully gone over to Tiny Tiny RSS http://tt-rss.org/redmine/ which is quite similar to the old reader in many ways and self hosted. Click Settings > Import/Export, download OPML, then import OPML. Away we go.
Re:I take it back. Unity is cool. on Thursday October 13, 2011 @12:17PM (#3107692)
If you google "ubuntu tour" with the fake firefox, you can get there, and then go deeper and deeper within each instance.

Well I thought it was fun anyway.

Re:Linux Fundamentals on Wednesday October 12, 2011 @09:06AM (#3102749)
If you look a bit more closely you'll see that is not just an article on a website but a wiki powered by mediawiki. As such it is not that suited to design customisation especially the type of design you are referring to. That being said I would argue this sort of guide or reference is much more readable in a plain unembellished format. Content is king in this instance.
Re:The Mac Is a Great Dev Box on Saturday September 17, 2011 @05:20AM (#3007621)
What's unfriendly about gnome and KDE? I've been running Linux Mint now for a couple of years as my primary dev machine in a windows network and the gui is top notch. Personally I find the OSX gui conventions a little screwy and awkward.
Re: BBC iPlayer European Launch Disappoints Brits Abroad on Thursday July 28, 2011 @10:19AM (#2816876)
Perhaps they were wooed by appstore sales figures. The iPad is also locked down enough for those who want to have complete control over their IP.
Re:F**k you all Apple-hipsters: today, I bought a PC on Wednesday July 20, 2011 @07:24AM (#2785036)
True, a PC with Linux on it is even better than a Mac.
Yep. :)
I'd check again, they have a load of warp now. I also noticed all the Autechre albums are back on again. Things appear to be more like they were in the early days of spotify.
Re:Sublime Text 2: Public Alpha Released on Friday January 28, 2011 @10:32AM (#2152152)
Best editor ever.

I have tried literally every single one over the years. Considering it's made by a single developer development speed is breathtaking and he is always open to suggestions on the Forums.

I was a little wary of the new version after using ST1 for so long, but have finally switched and project management is now a breeze where it used to be a little clunky. Go to anything also rocks.

A++++
