Would you accept a buyout offer that made you rich but you still felt was undervalued?
I.e., would you turn down an otherwise lucrative offer for pride?

Early-stage acquisitions usually involve an employment agreement for the founders.I think the offer I was presented is below market value, but when coupled with the purchase price it seems like a moot point.Should I put up a fight? Does the acquiring company have the right to discount my salary because they're already paying for the company?
what happened to this:http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=126421it was a stupid post but i found it hilarious
i'd also be interested in hearing about lj founder brad fitzpatrick's departure and the return reported as part of this deal.
...especially when there is no previous outside investment?when a company is being acquired more for its technology than its user-base?
I just have no clue what to expect--I sit down at the table with a company that has expressed interest and ... ? Who says what first?
The reason I posted this here is because YC is in the unique position of having done this more than once. Especially the tiny startup/large company transaction.
- Which party approached the other
- Who throws out the first offer
- How is value determined in the absence of any outside investments
- What are the attorney fees
- Negotiating favorable terms for post-acquisition work at the acquiring company
I'd be interested in hearing advice/stories from anybody that has negotiated an acquisition. Specifically, the acquisition of a tiny startup (1-5 people) by a huge company. Thanks.
