Here's the part that matters:
Did we read the same article?
Thanks, I have nothing against the topic itself, I'm interested and very well informed about it. I just don't see it's a topic for HN.
Isn't the point to get bored?
I'm not even a practicioner or have any deep knowledge about meditation. I am just asking a genuine question.
Wow, I can't believe beej himself responded to my comment.
I want to say thank you for the C networking book. Because of it I got into networking, systems programming, my first job and all that followed.
When I started typing my comment 5 minutes ago, it was in the top position. Now it is somewhere in the middle of page 2.
>Don’t sell out your moral compass for a quick buck.
As I grow older (I'm not that old), the more I think I'm an idiot by not playing "the game", but I just can't make myself do it. Maybe because deep down I believe in at least karma, if not some afterlife.
I found a fake quote from Dostoyevsky yesterday which said (I'm paraphrasing):
"Don't let the corruption of others be an excuse for your own."
I know it is a fake quote, but still I think that is a worldview to try to strive to. Seeing people like the author of the article supporting a similar point makes me a bit happier and hopeful that the big AI "revolution" won't make my life miserable.
This type of comments is making me insane.
Does tsoding use this font?
Wow, you are a role model for me
The random people can blame the autocratic government led by Putin and co., not the victim of their aggression which is trying to defend itself.
Downplaying the role of aggressor and portraying the victim as somehow to blame is really something, which leads me to think that you either did not fully think this logic through or that you are a Russian shill.
I did not expect Russian shills on Hackernews.
Destroying heating units in Ukraine also affects innocent users in much worse ways than losing a datacenter.
Watching someone play videogames is not as fun as playing the said game yourself.

Are most comments on HN now just astroturfed $LLM_COMPANY promotions?
What a nice article. If I ever get in a situation where my manager demands I have to go all-in on AI (run 10 parallel agents and lose my sanity while trying to follow what is going on), I'll ask them to read this article first.
Additionally, isn't it ironic that the only comment on Substack is:
> "Sometimes in the process of writing a good enough prompt for ChatGPT, I end up solving my own problem, without even needing to submit it". AI as a rubber ducky, I think this is good AI use!
Yet it takes rigorous years long tests to understand effects of a medication.
Wow. You should touch grass if you have this opinion.
So you can share the GPU between multiple VMs? I can have 4 VMs simultaneously do work on the GPU?
And each one would have its own Nvidia driver? How do they not interfere with each other? I mean I am by no means an expert in GPU architecture or anything similar, but I thought the problems with sharing a GPU come from the differences between GPU vs CPU architecture. On the other hand, multiple processes on a host can run on the same GPU, but that is all using the same kernel. I am just very confused.
I am very sceptical about this. I have some experience in GPU virtualization and passthrough with Nvidia GPUs and they are really not designed to be able to share them with multiple guests/host without Nvidia's blessing (licenced drivers).
I am wondering how they managed to achieve that without using Nvidia vGPU drivers.
Is it really that simple to split an Nvidia GPU between multiple users like that? I thought that you have to have specific drivers which support that.
Why not use normal GPU passthrough? I don't see how you can use this to share a GPU between multiple VMs, so what is the benefit of using this software over normal GPU passthrough with vfio-pci drivers?
Yes, I think you formulated what I think in a much better way. I quit by going cold turkey one day, but it was not out of nowhere, it took me a while to reach that mental point where I wanted to really quit.
The best part of it is that it is not that hard to stop smoking.
You have to actually WANT to quit to actually quit smoking, and I don't mean on a superficial level.
You might think, oh I should really quit smoking because it is bad for my health. But if you don't make a decision and change your core mentality that you really want to stop smoking, you'll just go back to it at some point, no matter what "trick" you use.
What do you mean by empire building?
If most software development is for clueless executives, and therefore subpar and useless in the grand scheme of things, why do we still need clueless executives. How much resources would be better allocated in the whole humanity if it was not for the clueless executives spending resources on garbage.
Too bad Bletchley Park didn't have one back in the day.
