Re:What did SFFA vs. Harvard reveal about admissions? on Tuesday July 14, 2026 @02:38PM (#48911249)
Your personal stories are very cute, but they don't explain what you're proposing instead of tests. I'm not sure how you're going to use so-called "judgment" to decide which students get in out of hundreds of thousands of applications in a reasonable amount of time.

Welcome to the adult world, where you are distilled into a collection of number each step of the way: look at credit scores, performance reviews, etc.

Unfortunately we didn't come up with a better way to rank a group of people on scale in a reasonable amount of time. So tests are a necessary compromise. I also know plenty of examples where people aced their tests by just spending $30 on a prep book and studying hard.

so make it harder? Seems like a solvable problem.

It puzzles me why US colleges are allowed to consider anything other than standardized test scores.
Can someone with knowledge comment if charging a battery this way will significantly decrease its longevity? I remember reading that charging with a low current is advisable to preserve battery health.
Try consulting. Once your reach Senior Consultant level it's pretty much the end of the path for ICs.

Is it because of cognitive load? I briefly looked at your project, and I'm still not convinced that your solution is easier to comprehend than

function onLoginClick() { validateFields(); networkLogin(); updateUI(); }

Expect "Please enable internet access to use this app" popup messages in this case. A lot of apps already do this with camera/photos access.

Current CEO has no vision and more interested in turning Mozilla into some version of internet ACLU. First and foremost she has to go.

Re:There is no such thing as a “glibc based alpine image” on Thursday August 26, 2021 @10:03AM (#28315078)
I think the majority of people resort to this hack because security folks in their infinite wisdom require to use alpine and nothing else. Unfortunately, a lot of libraries don't support musl and have no plans to support it in the future, so you have to be creative.

Same thing is happening in Russian Wikipedia. Majority of articles are written from the official pro-Kremlin point of view and any attempts to change that are blocked. Given that there are millions of Russian-speaking people live outside of Russia, something like this split needs to be done.

Re:Reflections on One Year as the CEO of Mozilla on Sunday April 11, 2021 @09:42PM (#26775359)
What scale? They lost most of their market share and they have a pretty low headcount. Wikipedia says they have around 750 people, but after the most recent layoff it's probably closer to 500. For comparison, Lime (scooter company) has about the same number of people. I think it's fair to compare Mozilla to a medium-sized non-profit, which would put CEO's salary in the 500k range.
