Re:WhatRuns – Discover what runs a website
on Thursday June 13, 2019 @12:15PM (#20176271)
I wasn't sure how to add this to the post but I wanted to ask - how would you guys say this plugin works, and would there be any privacy concerns behind this? I mean, I imagine it basically reads the data of every website you visit, right? Now, fair enough, it probably needs to, but would that mean it can possibly see what you enter, too? I'm not too familiar with plugin permissions so I was just wondering since I've been using this for a while.
Thanks.

Ah yes, because as we all know, Android phones have absolutely no control over notifications at all.. yep..
Have you done _any_ research? You can disable notifications for any app you like in pretty much any semi-recent version of Android.

I thought so, but at the same time I've seen some of these comments that have very high positive scores?
and how do you downvote something, anyway?
Ask HN: What do lightly-colored comments mean?
Most comments are black text, but some have hard-to-read grey text, why is this?

I've also been playing Endless Frontier.. It's one of the least pay to win games I've ever played.. You get rewards of in game currency every day and other super rare stuff for free, it makes no sense to buy anything imo

I have a habit of picking unpopular phones, it seems. No phone I've ever owned has had a relatively active rooting community and it sucks because I want to learn how rooting works but I can't afford to start testing my own devices, in case they get bricked or something.

Of all the words you could use to describe the nuclear industry, blew up should not be in the list

Everyone's getting absolutely bloody terrified about uploading their photos... What do you think the creator's gonna do, drive to your house and kill you, knowing nothing but what you look like?

Good point - I guess I've just been working on trying to be employable, so trying to do something purely enjoyable never occurred to me, honestly. Are there any languages or stacks you find particularly enjoyable to use?
Ask HN: What would you recommend a 14y/o to learn over the next 2 years?
So here's the deal; I'm 14, a hobbyist web developer and I'm really overwhelmed by how many things I could learn. My goal is to be proficient in at least one major stack by the time I'm 16, so I can A) Have something to show off to colleges and therefore B) have even more to show off to potential employers. I feel like 2 years is enough for me to get a moderate understanding of a popular tech...
