Absolutely incredible. You've convinced our team to start getting to work in Zig and we're loving it!! Thanks for all you do

Re:The U.S. Power Grid on Sunday October 25, 2026 @06:29PM (#50236678)
This is cute and interesting but I would really prefer, as maybe a general rule for vibecoded projects, that we try to not just place the thing you've built onto the internet, but also give us context for your context. This is what READMEs were for before we decided to turn those into a workspace for LLMs

Like yes, I can infer a lot about what this is, what it's doing, etc. but its trivial to get claude et. al to make a one-time onboarding screen that actually gives me an idea about what this is supposed to be, how realistic it is, what the numbers mean, what the features are, etc.

Edit: I say this in particular because I FIND THIS PROJECT INTERESTING! I WANNA KNOW WHAT IT DOES!!

Re:The Kevin Bacon on Friday October 23, 2026 @04:09PM (#50214609)
Ah sure that's my bad then. It just runs incredibly poorly on my end, so I guess my default was to assume it was an LLM issue.
Re:The Kevin Bacon on Friday October 23, 2026 @02:21PM (#50213281)
Listen I get it right the vibecoding is fun but please for gods sake ask claude "Can u make it faster pls" before shipping my GOD dude.
Pretty fascinating that the email in section deep-dive-into-the-primary-transcript sort of implies that the model can't turn off "model speak"? Like it's very clearly AI and sounds like AI. Do the models not realize that?
Re:No More Icons in Every Menu by Default on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @09:56PM (#50190200)
"Computing is a pop culture with little regard for the past" this literally just clicked so many pieces in my brain all at once I had to close my eyes and sit with it.

"Social media content factory" "[Automated] Ebay flipping"

What a vile, vile thing.

Cried seeing this. So much loss.
Really good use of the toupee fallacy here.
Sorry, do we have actual clear implementation details for Jev? I keep seeing these "recreations" or "Do Jev at home" but do we have access to their architecture? I haven't even used the product, I just find it strange.
Agreed, agreed, and agreed again.
Re:Made by Mechanical Means on Monday September 28, 2026 @10:00AM (#49878098)
The website, to me, looks like Claude's project with sprinklings of the author's intent, and not the other way around.
Like dreamcatchers for CVEs
The other answers to this question are good but I would also guess that this (comms on artifactory) likely happened during training as well, so they probably had a prior for it.
This was my thought as well. Literally take any halfway decent greybeard and point them at "Hey, give us a sandbox for this kind of thing". I honestly was skeptical that they just vibecoded the entire thing but now more than ever I think they did.
Re:Attention is all you have on Monday September 21, 2026 @11:31PM (#49796514)
Related and not related. Fans of https://andymatuschak.org/ might want to know that he is now working at https://x.com/pico, which apparently has the same tagline as this article "Attention is all you have". But really truly don't click that link that site is a hellhole.

Re:Minimal Phone 2 on Friday September 18, 2026 @05:23PM (#49760438)
Not to shill but if you're struggling with apps on your (i)phone, I can't recommend https://www.foqos.app/ enough. My weekly screentime (as measured by my iphone, not true screen time) is <1hr. NFC tag is optional you can literally buy a candy bar and tape the barcode to an index card and that will work. The physical layer is massive. Now my problem is just limited to desktop which is easier to control.
Re:Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again? on Friday September 11, 2026 @11:09AM (#49659778)
This resonated with me. "Developing ideas and artifacts using AI breaks our normal intuitions along many meaningful axes and we've yet to update" is a really clean idea.

This guy's lab does some really cool stuff using really basic ideas:

As someone born after the year 2000 this stuff is like looking at both a future that never was, and a past that couldn't have been.

If I'm not mistaken this blog is from a person I had the pleasure of working with in undergrad for a course project. They were brilliant then and are still now.

Tangentially related, I love this website: https://vanya.jp.net/vtree/. My first interpreter had a flag -j that output the AST as JSON so that I could see it on this site.
