Show HN: ScreenCI – Tutorial videos as E2E tests, written by your coding agent

https://screenci.com/

Hi HN, I'm Olli. My friend Patrik and I are bootstrapping ScreenCI: tutorial videos of your web app that you can re-record in your CI on every release. If the video is out of date, the run fails like any E2E test.I've been on teams where the tutorial videos were outdated, or even where we held back UI improvements due to manually maintained videos. That's why we built system where you can...

Re:Opus 5.5 is good at explainer videos on Friday September 25, 2026 @05:07AM (#49841966)
I think Opus 5.5 works even better with recording tutorial videos of your real application / ui, using agent written playwright e2e tests. I’ve been working on this workflow for couple of months and built a service around it (screenci.com), so I have some hands-on experience with it.

Instead of using Choice with criteria "space_0", "space_1"..., it could be even more elegant to use criteria names like "", " "... which could be directly inserted into response.
Thanks a lot! The hardest part was to figure out how to get source code access through js from the browser without browser's own modifications. It seems that all browsers process 'document.documentElement.innerHTML' in different ways... That is not good if you want to have this file in version control for example.

In the end the solution was to put as much as possible between <script> tags, including html + css, and then it can all be accessed perfectly with 'document.currentScript.innerHTML'. Then I just hard coded the two lines that could not be put inside the tags. All this just to ensure that the updating does not affect the source code in any way :D

Thank you! It was not easy as different browsers process the .innerHTML in different ways... That is why I had to almost everything between script tags, event the html+css
