May I ask why is 1080 sad? I have been on 1366x768 during the early 2010s. But switch to 1080 over the last couple of years. While my personal desktop is on 1440p, 1080 is still very much a 'good enough' resolution for corporate work and day-to-day browsing usage. I see this trend to stick around for the next 5 years at least because most consumers don't really see non-marginal benefit in moving to 1440p.
Inaccurate title? Link mentions a discussion on a "hypothetical" situation. Nowhere do I see that they will add links or listings.

Re:Ask HN: Why is it easier to get a raise with a new job? on Thursday January 31, 2019 @10:16PM (#19051278)
There is more inertia to move to a different job than stay. Companies know that and thus have to compensate you for that added inertia.
