Re:JetBrains Cancels Fleet on Saturday December 13, 2025 @12:34PM (#46256267)
I have a similar problem, large monorepo, things have become really bad lately to the point that the cursor is unresponsive. The only workaround I have found is opening each folder of the monorepo in its own IDE instance
Re:Largest EV manufacturer is coming to the Western market on Thursday December 11, 2025 @07:41AM (#46230684)
EV motorbikes are already very popular with criminals in the UK. They make the perfect getaway vehicle as they are so quick and stealthy.

It’s very intimidating to see a group riding these things on the pavement and pulling wheelies, all wearing balaclavas.

Re:Helm v4.0.0 on Thursday November 13, 2025 @06:47AM (#45913775)
Helm shines when you’re consuming vendor charts (nginx-ingress, cert-manager, Prometheus stack). It’s basically a package manager for k8s. Add a repo, pin a version, set values, and upgrade/rollback as one unit. For third-party infra, the chart’s values.yaml provides a fairly clean and often well documented interface
The UK has council tax, which is quite similar to a property tax

Re:When will M&S take online orders again? on Saturday May 31, 2025 @03:37PM (#44146498)
M&S outsourced over half of its IT team to Tata Consultancy in 2018. Looks like they are now reaping what they sowed

Re:Rick Steves: Are Americans Still Welcome in Europe? on Thursday April 10, 2025 @03:40PM (#43647366)
You might want to sew a Canadian flag on your bag just in case
Fords are very popular in the UK and my Mondeo hasn’t missed a beat in years. the European models aren’t made in US which speaks volumes
Re:Americans Are Heading for the Exits on Saturday February 22, 2025 @01:13PM (#43141495)
Have you actually visited Western Europe recently or is your judgement based on what you read?
Re:Americans Are Heading for the Exits on Saturday February 22, 2025 @01:08PM (#43141448)
Same thing with Brexit, although a lot wish they really did leave now
Re:So Many Unmarried Men on Sunday February 16, 2025 @02:35PM (#43070921)
Plenty of couples don’t get married and have happy lives together.

Just a warning, the UK has major problems with anti-social behaviour and youth crime in many places. The police do very little about to stop it.
Re:100 Most-Watched Software Engineering Talks of 2024 on Wednesday February 12, 2025 @02:29PM (#43028848)
The days of people entering the industry to make big money are probably behind us.
The US is still enviable from a UK perspective
Most of the heat pump units in the UK market don’t operate as an AC unit. It’s a hard sell to rip out a working gas central heating system
Re:Apple Launches Apple Invites on Tuesday February 04, 2025 @04:19PM (#42938895)
It’s interesting that WhatsApp never caught on in the US. It’s ubiquitous amongst everyone I know. Android use also seems to be much larger in Europe
Re:List of 200 UK companies that moved to 4-day working week on Saturday February 01, 2025 @09:27AM (#42898531)
This is a bit dramatic, sure some people have to share a mouldy flat but most software engineers I know are doing ok
