Re:Ask HN: What default model do you use and why? on Saturday September 12, 2026 @11:44AM (#49673518)
I like AI more on the short leash, giving it specific agents tasks, one at a time (centaur mode). I found GPT 5.6 LUNA to be astonishingly capable. Plus, it so fast, that it does not block my flow of throughts, like the more capable but slower models often do. And it is so cheap that I do not use Ollama local models anymore. Luna is far more capable, and so cheap that the energy prices here in Germany eat the gains of local hosting ;-)

I used it for analyzing some organisational customer data. It worked very well if you can convert your (offline) data to one of the supported formats.

Yes, price is an issue if you are a heavy user of web services with masses of calls, but especially for corporate environments where it is difficult to set up a machine but the amount of data to analyze is reasonable I can really recommend it.

Re:Ask HN: Is anyone using Microsoft Teams? on Saturday January 07, 2017 @04:27PM (#13346747)
The trick is that it's is part of Office365, you can't buy it separately. But for a few bucks you get a coherent suite of many products, Microsoft Teams just being one of them. So it does not have to be greater than Slack, just good enough, since you bought it anyway with your Office365 subscription.

I got the same Dell XPS 15 as you have, and no problems. Wifi works great, nothing is broke, everything is blazing fast, standby is no problem. Maybe you were just unlucky with your specific device, or didn't update the drivers and BIOS. The only thing that's not good is their Thunderbolt 3 dock.
I got a Dell XPS 15, the 9550 edition. Before purchasing I was scared of the bad stability reviews it had when it was release. However Dell treats it with updated drivers regularly, and with latest drivers it works great. It can even handle 3D shooter without thermal throtteling etc. I use it as a developer machine with Windows 10.

Just be careful with the Dell Thunderbold 3 TB15 dock (not sold any more I think). I got one, and with the latest drivers it works, but has some quirks. Also be careful to sort out complaints about the XPS in the net: may have problems using the dock, not with the laptop itself.

And the touchpad is great by the way.
