Tesla shouldn't call their driver assist system "Autopilot" either, but here we are.
Re:A startup is deploying armed bodyguards to NYC on Monday February 06, 2023 @09:46AM (#34677968)
This is just a disgusting way to promote any product!
It wasn't originally their product. It came with the Sun Microsystems acquisition. Sun themselves acquired Virtualbox close to selling to Oracle. Sun never monetized their products well, hence their demise.
I was happy to pay the USD30 they charged back then, but they wanted a minimum order of 100 units!

They’re talking about the previous model there.

The Verge does a lot of 4K edits for their content, not just photoshopping.

Half the reason it's bad is because it uses SharePoint as the back-end. Another awful product that Microsoft tries to sustain.
Re:Drug ring hid $1B worth of coke on a single ship on Wednesday January 05, 2022 @11:53PM (#29819569)
From what I've heard, it's 4x the price per gram in Australia. So valuations like the ones in the linked article must be taken with some context.
Re:Masked email from Fastmail and 1Password on Tuesday September 28, 2021 @08:57AM (#28682195)
There was a Show HN project last year that did something similar. I'd be keen to try that out before this one. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the link.
It was chosen because of the name given to the clothes by the locals.
> Elsewhere in the world, Truvada might cost $40. In Australia, Truvada costs $8 for a 30 day supply[1].

AUD 6.60 in Australia is the cost for those eligible for the concession PBS rate (those that are on welfare, pension etc.). It's AUD 41.30 for everyone else.

This is all thanks to our government negotiating a good rate with the manufacturer and then subsidizing the costs. This is not what all governments do, unfortunately.

Is this the same guy who's now on the FBI's wanted list?
UK is an island as well. It's not a special case then?
Re:The Fake Cisco on Wednesday July 15, 2020 @06:53PM (#23853357)
No, it's not. If you don't, you will face an extremely high 'tax bill'. Tesla had to negotiate hard to decrease this bill.

Any German-built Miele vacuum would beat a Dyson any day.

Pricing in Canada for mobile plans are downright awful! I can buy a plan from Australia and use it there in Canada for cheaper with international roaming.

I remember only 10 years ago that Canadian telcos still considered moving between state lines as ‘roaming’. I don’t know if it’s still the case.

Re:$8k to Give Birth on Wednesday September 11, 2019 @07:43AM (#20938904)
That's about how much it costs (after insurance) to give birth in a private hospital in Australia as well. This is in a country that has universal healthcare. The largest costs are the often the hospital fees.
With the price of fuel in Norway, it's not surprising to see people turning towards EV.

Paying sub-contractors, settling property transactions, the list goes on.

When buying a house, I remember having to withdraw $60k in cash from my savings bank account and walking over and depositing it in another because it would take the other bank 3 working days to clear a bank-cheque. Some banks do offer an over-night inter-bank mechanism, but surprisingly CommBank does not.

> NPP is a joke. There's a limit of $1,000 for transfers. It doesn't always work if you don't use a PayID.

ANZ have a $5000 limit. It's down to the bank to enforce this.

Re:Regex for Noobs – An Illustrated Guide on Sunday August 04, 2019 @03:35PM (#20608737)
The trouble with regular expressions is not their use, but the different "standards" (or lack thereof) and figuring out what the interpreter supports.
Repeat these words to yourself when you're in the same situation one day. This is a prime example of ageism!

Just checked the App and it looks like you can't sign-up using the free option anymore.

Kind of off-topic, but why doesn't their site https://trailofbits.com/ have their certificate configured correctly? I know that their main site is https://www.trailofbits.com but I didn't expect their other record to be configured incorrectly.

The P1 is a great light-weight desktop replacement.
When they started building the current Mac Pro in the USA, they couldn't find the correct screws for a particular component. When they eventually found a supplier who could deliver something that was close to spec, the owner of the factory hand-delivered it to them over 22 trips in his Lexus:

You won't be facing these kinds of delays in China.
