Ask HN: Invited to write a tech book but on an H1B visa – help

Recently a major non-US tech publisher invited me to write a book about a programming language I'm an expert in. I live in NYC but I'm from Europe.I'd love to do it and its a huge step in my career if it gets published. However, I'm on an H1B visa so I think I will have to decline or get...deported? (If the authorities found out?)Has anyone been in this situation before? H1Bs really suck.

Why did you leave? I'm interviewing there at the moment and would love some pointers

They have some bad reviews recently on glassdoor but everyone there seems pretty passionate

I've been using python for 8+ years now (4ish in a professional context), and have also given Python classes to large groups of students at big universities. Can you email me at [email protected]?

I'll reply with my linkedin, blog, resume, etc :D

Crikey :/

Living in NYC as well? Its hard to find a place under about 1700 in remotely decent commuting distance, in a vaguely safe area that isn't full of roaches.

80k in NYC. It sucks since I see so little of that (<2k per month) after tax and rent.

Are you hiring, boredeasy?
