(I didn't click on the link yet.) Is it a ThinkPad?
So, it's "Papers, Please" but you're a firewall? I like it. Pretty cool.
I was driving from (Western) NY to Burlington, VT and drove past Fort Ticonderoga. All I thought of was Ticonderoga pencils. Later, I looked it up thinking it was a coincidence, but nope the pencils were named after the fort (because there was graphite found there).
Also, there is in fact a #3 pencil, not just the #2 we all are probably used to.
When I moved into my apartment, I went to BestBuy and I was actually able to find a "dumb TV"! They had ONE in stock, it was Insignia (their house brand) and it was sold as "open box". I love it and have had no issues with it.
That being said, I use an Nvidia Shield TV Pro connected to it, and I had to do similar steps on that to replace the launcher and install my own apps. I use "ATV Launcher Pro" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.dstudio.atv...) personally, and it's great.
I also use "Send Files to TV" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sen...) so I can download files on my phone and send them to the TV.
What "project"? It's just some adb commands that you can run on your TV/streaming box to disable built-in apps and change settings. The rest are just Android apps that are safe/legit.
"Geometry Force" sounds like it could be some old kids educational cartoon.
Does TP-Link just make buggy stuff, or are we just unlucky? I used to have a TP-Link WiFi 6E router, that I used as an access point and a switch (the "routing" was disabled since I use another router).
For whatever reason, that device would drop packets if they were VLAN-tagged. Other packets were fine, but anything to do with VLAN just didn't work. Took me a while to figure out that was the issue and it wasn't with the machine I was trying to configure.
I sold that thing on eBay and replaced it with a "real" access point (and a PoE switch).
I've seen plenty of websites with a "Works best in Chrome" banner, usually because they use some non-standard web API. Though, I've seen plenty that clearly just didn't care to test outside of Chrome, so they just assume you're using that.
My gripe about "Safari being the new IE" was more about how broken some websites can be in Safari and having no good way of knowing or testing that. At work, my boss said out website didn't look quite right on his iPhone and it took more work than I'd thought to track down the piece of CSS that Safari rendered differently for some reason.
Personally, I don't use macOS or iOS and I also use Firefox. Generally, things seem to work the same between Firefox Chrome and Safari, with Safari needing the most amount of "tweaks".
As I like to say: "Safari is the new IE."
Also, you /can/ run macOS in a VM on Linux: https://github.com/Coopydood/ultimate-macOS-kvm
I use that to test our website at work in Safari, though without a GPU (there is no virto-gpu driver for macOS and my PC's GPU doesn't support vGPU) the performance isn't great.

Reminds me of the Tangara mp3 player:
https://cooltech.zone/tangara/My friend got a Tangara from their "Kickstarter" and I think it's pretty cool. Plus it's open source and you can just make your own.
Yet america.gov still refers to it as "AI" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
> America.gov uses AI to get simple answers only from official government sources.
I can't hear "Ride of the Valkyries" without hearing "Kill the Wabbit" in my head. Also "Spear and magic helmet" :-)
I still have my T430, but I use my X270 more often now.
Get mad at me if you want, but whenever I see a new program/project posted, my first thought is "that's cool, please don't be AI slop."
I have a Bluesky account (that I rarely use), and I had no idea they used the term "skeet".
Man, am I happy that I deleted my Facebook. No regrets.
they should probably kill grok
What do you mean? I was able to click "add to cart" on their website and was taken to a PayPal page to check out. I think the issue is on your end (some type of ad/tracking/cookie blocker messing up the page).
I've bought many floppy disks from these guys and I can say that they are 100% legit.
Also, destroying old technology is no way to progress into the future.
As someone who just installed FreePBX on his home server, I guess I basically did that.
I used LTT's 40 Gbps cable to connect my ThinkPad X270 to a USB-C monitor and it worked fine. I guess neither device there is TB5, but just wanted to share that those cables do at least support DP-alt mode (or whatever it's called).
I've noticed this with obvious scam ads on the YouTube app or even Google search results. I've determined that (much like Twitter/X) the "verification" (or "moderation") is simply just "did they [the advertiser] pay us?"
I ran Windows XP x64 Edition on a computer for a while and some software didn't like it. Since it was technically NT 5.2 (Server 2003) and not NT 5.1 (XP), some programs/installers would complain that it wasn't compatible. So, it was cool to have a 64-bit Windows XP, it was annoying to get stuff to run on it.
We all know what the word was, it was a joke to replace it with another word that has the same first/last letters that obviously wouldn't fit here. A joke about how words are censored all over the internet as a way to appease advertisers on various platforms.
It's VBScript/macro worms all over again!
