Yes some of the best "AI" features Apple has implemented are related to picture search : you can describe what you want to find and it will consistently find it, even inside of videos with highlights or the moments you're looking for. Much less supposedly sexy than the SIRI AI / Apple Intelligence hype, but also much more useful
One must also consider the proximity between musk and the trump administration, the market pricing this proximity is the market pricing power, access and aligning its interest with the blatant collusion between political power and business in the US.

That or the good ol’ « dump it on retail » scheme

Re:There Is No 'Hard Problem of Consciousness' on Monday May 18, 2026 @09:25AM (#48179559)
It does offer beauty and relief to the fact that the observable universe is something like 10^80 the volume of a humain being. At that incomprehensible scale, I think poetry and spirituality is a rather nice placeholder while loads of brilliant minds work on our understanding of physics
They do say they won’t bother, but the rest of the article is actually precisely covering this second point, aka Article 15 of LK Privacy Policy
Move your mouse and the cat will follow
What you’re describing is the typical output / function of a minifier
In France it is indeed a popular expression that means 'stolen' or 'acquired by non-disclosable means'
Interesting question to ask that then calls for decisive action : actively resisting endless content feeds. Is there any other way ? Can we trust ourselves to be stronger than the appeal of our smartphones combined with ultra attractive videos feeds ?

I used to manage but the covid period broke all my safeguards and I now often ask myself not 'what is this', but 'who am i ?'

Who am I when i've spent 2 hours scrolling a video feed mindlessly, read tens of pointless comments from people that have no existence whatsoever from my perspective ?

I often look at people's phones in the metro, most of them are using tiktok or something similar, observing how braindead is the content on other people's feed really is a wake-up call for me to act on what I must call a crippling addiction

Re:Going Dark: The war on encryption is on the rise on Tuesday May 21, 2024 @08:28AM (#40427524)
The article explains how Ashton Kutcher backed non-profit "Thorn" was a cornerstone of the Chat Control bill that was to be passed a few years back ; it also explains how Palantir pushed for the bill behind the scenes and how at least one former FBI agent and other members of non-EU security agencies participated in meetings to kickstart that new version of the bill.

Yes, basically it's back under another name after having been knocked off.

Leakages are indeed an enormous problem. It’s estimated than more than 2% of the gas leaks !
Situation is similar even though less dire in Barcelona.

Re:YC's Latest Request for Startups on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @02:34PM (#39374114)
Https://pigment.com is an impressive example of a startup managing to address this market successfully.
Amazon France entity doesn’t make make much money, the regulator that issued the fine (la CNIL) says its roughly 3-4% of Amazon’s revenue here.

Re:How we bootstrapped our SaaS to $1M ARR on Friday January 21, 2022 @10:19AM (#30024657)
When people ask me why I like being the founder of a company, I often reply with a small story: when we built our first saas for SMB, we billed .50€ per API call and we plugged those calls to a Slack bot. Man how great it felt in the firsts weeks when this bot would send a message around 20 times a day: the sound of finally having built something valuable that would generate value even if I'd be out of my computer, running or anything else really.

Long live scrappingbee!

You're absolutely right. It's saddening to see how little regulation there is, or even how little focus there is on regulating business in space. I don't want to sound naive, but it's frustrating that us citizens of any countries have no weight on such important matters. All for the Musks and Bezos' of this world I guess.
Re:Chatbots: Still dumb after all these years on Thursday January 06, 2022 @01:16PM (#29827434)
Yet triaging questions is often made simpler by provinding another type of UI, like simple buttons in a funnel for example. That's what makes chatbots gimmicky in my opinion.
Re:NFT Replicas: An app to mint a replica of virtually any NFT on Thursday December 23, 2021 @12:12PM (#29663856)
Tbh, a large part of the art market can indeed be called a scam that only exists as a tax evasion opportunity. Maybe that shouldn’t be the template for the so called Web3.
Yet you could get convinced, which in my eyes makes what you do honest.
Re:Google reports soaring attrition among Black women on Friday July 02, 2021 @05:34PM (#27717199)
This was not a rant.

I hear you and I mostly share your view tbh. As we speak, Republican lawmakers are pushing for legislations that aim to exclude voters from democratic expression ; Flint residents still don't have drinkable water. All of this exist, racism exist, poor people are suffering and even dying from it, minorities in larger proportions.

Still, is the X of Latinx the solution ? Or is it smoke and mirrors in the Big Tech goal of being perceived as noble ?

Respectfully.

Language is our main tool for expressing ideas. IMO that means language choices can help include more people in the conversation, or (more often than not) act as a diferenciation factor between the "enlightened ones" (woke ones ?) and the rest.

Given people stay respectful, I think that's fair to criticize languages choices and the barrier they create.
