Re:Nginx Has Moved to GitHub on Saturday September 07, 2024 @01:59AM (#41471780)
Nginx is not one of the building blocks of Kubetnetes. It's just an Ingress controller
Re:Going IPv6 Only on Sunday February 20, 2022 @04:20AM (#30404387)
GKE can use IPv6 now
Re:How bad is your Spotify? on Wednesday December 23, 2020 @05:30PM (#25523027)
But you ARE cool for listening to Kapitan Korsakov!
Re:Bare-Metal Kubernetes with K3s on Tuesday December 22, 2020 @03:14PM (#25510662)
I don't get it, how do you configure nginx with a YAML file?

Re:From Mac to Linux – the setup I've grown to love on Sunday August 25, 2019 @11:40AM (#20793537)
I'd suggest rofi[1] rather than albert, runs like a charm.

Re:Why Does Developing on Kubernetes Suck? on Friday August 23, 2019 @04:29AM (#20775535)
Managing a VM vs a managed Kubernetes cluster? I'd choose kubernetes without hesitating
Re:Why Kubernetes Will Disappear on Monday July 29, 2019 @10:09AM (#20554732)
Like everywhere else ...
Re:Why Kubernetes Will Disappear on Sunday July 28, 2019 @05:01AM (#20546541)
GKE is free.
Re:Kubernetes 1.14 released on Tuesday March 26, 2019 @04:02AM (#19489975)
Yes it is. You can do more with Kustomize
> - Avoid NIH: There's a very good chance that the code you're writing could instead be imported from libraries/frameworks that already offer it. Avoid the overhead of reinventing the wheel and focus exclusively on business logic (and sometimes even that might already exist in some oss projects you can use).

I partially agree. Sometimes it's better to reinvent the wheel: you got better control and less risks.

(How can I properly quote someone on HN?)

Re:Paris Will Make Public Transportation Free for Kids on Monday January 21, 2019 @06:35AM (#18959627)
Lille's subway is "driverless".
Re:Announcing unlimited free private repos on Monday January 07, 2019 @06:37PM (#18851447)
No they don't.
Re:Two years later, I still miss the headphone port on Wednesday December 26, 2018 @08:44AM (#18762097)
I guarantee bluetooth headsets suck, all of them.
I've been using Tile38 for over a year now. It is amazing.
It will lock you down, as it's very hard to migrate from go-kit.

IMHO, it only brings problems.

Re:Go: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Friday April 13, 2018 @11:24AM (#16830831)
Just another guy speaking subjectively of something he barely know.
Re:Ask HN: Which stack do you use at your startup? on Friday February 16, 2018 @07:29AM (#16391835)
Backend:

  - Go, NodeJS
  - Redis, MongoDB, Tile38, Neo4j
  - GKE
  - Traefik
Frontend (mobile app):

  - React-Native
And for the rest of the world? I always wanted such a kind of service, can't wait to use it.
Re:Revert the GitHub dark header on Friday February 10, 2017 @07:35PM (#13620194)
I don't like the dark header. But StackOverflow changed its header from dark to white and I don't like it either.

That makes me so confused about my likes.

Re:Mux – A lightweight, fast HTTP request router for Go on Monday December 05, 2016 @11:33AM (#13106588)
From the README: "mux is a lightweight fast HTTP request router [...] It also scales better."

Where can I find the benchmarks?

Re:Have: a new language that transpiles to Go on Thursday September 22, 2016 @11:16AM (#12557390)
No I wouldn't. I can't see any reasons to use Have.
Re:A go library for tokenizing text on Tuesday May 31, 2016 @03:45AM (#11805267)
TL;DR: This is an implementation of strtok() in Go ...
"ActiveRecord is hardly "the depths". After ActiveRecord, your data will probably go through Ruby's I/O system, TCP stacks, IP stacks, low level kernel I/O, firmware on network cards, a database management system (itself comprising multiple layers of semantics), and will ultimately move some electrons around somewhere."

What are "the depths" according to him then?

"How many people can actually write BFS on the spot, without preparing for it in advance?" A lot of people. You should too, even if you're just a front-end.

Re:Hotel: local .dev domains for everyone on Tuesday April 12, 2016 @11:20AM (#11480312)
In which case is it really useful?
