I was introduced to the book "Trading and Exchanges: Market Microstructure for Practitioners" on HN[0] and it seems like a really good book (from the bit I have skimmed so far).

I would think that something like hyperdex/warp[1] would be better for that use case.

What's the difference between Apache Parquet and Apache Arrow? They are both columnar formats right?

I wonder why they didn't use moose[1]; I guess it probably started development before it.

There's also UndoDB if you can pay for it. Not sure what the differences are between it and RR, but I know with UndoDB you can create a binary for the client that has the recorder built in, so it can automatically record failing states.

There's also Guix in case anyone is interested. It uses Guile/Scheme for everything instead of Haskell.

I found this to be a good article about the importance of coroutines compared to continuation-passing style: http://orthecreedence.github.io/cl-async/2012/11/07/missing-...

Git-annex might be of interest to you.

I don't know how the situation has changed in regards to binaries, or if this is a good suggestion, I just remember reading about git-annex when it came out a few years ago.

Recently I was reading about hash tables on wikipedia and I was surprised to learn about how much the birthday problem influenced their design.

"A real world example of a hash table that uses a self-balancing binary search tree for buckets is the HashMap class in Java version 8."
