Show HN: Krypter – simple offline message and file encryption mobile app

Hi guys, here's a personal privacy app that I've been doing for a few months now.The idea is to have a secure offline way of encrypting messages and data on your device using HPKE and a selection of encryption key types, including Secure Enclave bound ones, to protect the data in transit or at rest. As in, encrypt and optionally sign, send by any means, and only have your designated recipient...

I would actually want that but all the existing implementations are slow, with poor support and none of them provides the smooth experience we can have on a dedicated desktop pc or laptop. Dex is just laughable. Ubuntu touch never took off.
Well they use the "save the kids" argument pretty often in the US to take away what's left of the privacy out there.
Re:Chrome Autofill doesn't respect autocomplete=off on Wednesday May 19, 2021 @04:38PM (#27214171)
And that can be managed by proper browser settings at that establishment.
I'd easily pay for a personal gmail account which has all the privacy protections on and also 24/7 access to customer support via chat and phone. Sadly most of that is only provided for business accounts.
Isn't that 15% for first incoming $1M though?

Monitors with 3.5mm outputs however are not that rare.

You are not authorized to access this page.

edit: it finally became available a bit later

Yeah, but I'd imagine if someone offered you to have Steam on ps5, you'd jump in instantly. At least I would. I'd even pay more for the nice compact hardware if it is currently subsidized.
Re:Nitrokey on Friday August 28, 2020 @07:20PM (#24311534)
I’ve also begun using trezor for the same purpose and from security standpoint it is even better. Onscreen pin code is required and a tap on the screen with the exact info on what service is trying to log in.
It easily pushes more in doom.
Re:Apple Terminates Epic Games' Developer Account on Friday August 28, 2020 @05:54PM (#24310491)
In having App Store as the only way to install common apps for their devices.
Re:Nitrokey on Thursday August 27, 2020 @05:16PM (#24298766)
Yep. Also way more convenient to connect to modern android smartphones.
Re:Nitrokey on Thursday August 27, 2020 @04:04PM (#24298021)
Unlike some competitors, Nitrokey contains a complete and standard compliant USB plug. This ensures thousands of insertions without connectivity issues.

Here I am waiting for a Type-C from them. Yet they claim that’s a good thing. What utter bullshit.

Re:SSH Keygen – RSA, DSA, Ecdsa, EdDSA on Wednesday August 26, 2020 @07:19PM (#24288417)
Except nobody knows when that's gonna really happen. I've personally switched to ed25519-sk wherever I could.
Normally I’d ask you for some kind of proof, but I know you won’t be able to output any of it.
Re:How to use FIDO2 USB keys with SSH on Tuesday June 30, 2020 @11:47AM (#23691239)
I installed 8.3 through homebrew but its agent just doesn't allow me to do that. Also can't ssh-add an sk key.
Re:How to use FIDO2 USB keys with SSH on Tuesday June 30, 2020 @09:41AM (#23689875)
Can't make that part work on Mac.
Re:How to use FIDO2 USB keys with SSH on Tuesday June 30, 2020 @09:27AM (#23689743)
Not exactly true. Ubuntu 20.04 supports this out of the box and lots of VMs therefore also do.
Re:Pi-hole 5.0 on Monday May 11, 2020 @04:04AM (#23139883)
I use a ubiquiti switch. I've decided to build my network with PoE in mind and one central location to power it all, backed up by a UPS.
Re:Pi-hole 5.0 on Sunday May 10, 2020 @06:39PM (#23136990)
Protect it how exactly? You can create firewall rules on DigitalOcean and limit the IP addresses from which the DNS server is accessible.
Re:Pi-hole 5.0 on Sunday May 10, 2020 @06:33PM (#23136945)
I do it on a PoE powered raspberry pi. Minimal effort, zero maintenance, no fees other than the initial purchase.
Re:Pi-hole 5.0 on Sunday May 10, 2020 @06:32PM (#23136940)
I'd rather recommend this one:

https://newpipe.schabi.org/

At least it is opensource and works great.

Wrong on both accounts. It is a stand-alone phone now.

Have they added group chats yet?
Re:Apple’s “monopsony” power, and the woman who named it on Wednesday January 15, 2020 @03:41PM (#22058259)
Just fine, actually.
Re:Apple’s “monopsony” power, and the woman who named it on Wednesday January 15, 2020 @04:40AM (#22052920)
It would be just enough to allow people to install third party apps without having to use app store.
Just cut them out with adblock and you'll be fine.
Re:OpenWrt 19.07 on Saturday January 11, 2020 @12:45PM (#22021172)
I've just installed openwrt on mikrotik hap ac router. Damn that thing is nice. The UI is way more user friendly and expandable. Built-in pi-hole analog (adblock) works just fine, wpa3 support is also there. And all that is installed in just a few clicks.
Re:GPS Is Going Places on Friday December 27, 2019 @03:40PM (#21894427)
Doesn't really seem that difficult. The patterns of picking up a phone, running with it and having it just lay on a vibrating surface are very different. It would be particularly easy to spot panic during a usual running routine.
