Pluto is great. It captures the serendipity (and awkwardness) of in-person events pretty well :)

Color Genomics | Burlingame, CA | Full Stack, Backend, Bioinformatics

Color Genomics is democratizing access to high-quality genetic testing. Our first product, a breast and ovarian cancer risk test that's 1/10 the price of existing offerings, launched in April and was covered in Fast Company, Forbes, and the New York Times[1].

We're lucky to have a team that represents the best from of the worlds of software development and next-generation DNA sequencing, and a scientific advisory board that includes the scientist who discovered the BRCA1 gene.

If you're an engineer who's willing to learn about biological problems, or have experience in next-generation sequencing, feel free to contact me directly: [email protected]

Re:Capsela, the game that changed my life on Friday December 26, 2014 @04:30AM (#8798533)
Thanks, I'd completely forgotten I had this as a kid until just now.
Interesting idea, but it would incentivize people against writing small, modular commits.

Besides lacking resources on social engineering, looks very good!
Thank you.
At first I thought this was going to be a Javascript interface to SAT tutoring centers and boba shops.

Met Justin Kan at one of these events too. Agreed, dude is super down-to-earth and very nice. Was surprised to learn how much coding he still does for his companies.

Yup, not at the event but got to meet several of them. Very sharp folks all around.
Congrats guys!
Re:Gofmt No Longer Allows Spaces. Tabs Only on Thursday June 19, 2014 @02:23AM (#7914724)
Easily. Just get any two beekeepers to talk to each other and you'll find plenty of examples. Some common ones:

- Whether to use a [queen excluder](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_excluder) or not.

- What [kind of hive](http://www.beethinking.com/pages/what-is-the-best-bee-hive) to use, even.

- If using a Langstroth hive, whether to use [10-frame or 8-frame boxes](http://www.beesource.com/forums/showthread.php?291373-10-fra...).

- How/when/whether to [feed your bees](http://www.bushfarms.com/beesfeeding.htm).

However, despite having all these disagreements, it's an incredibly friendly community. It's expected that anyone you meet will do things differently from you, so people swap advice and adopt things that work with their style.

Edit: whelp, markdown doesn't work here but I'm too lazy to change it.

I got into beekeeping recently, and it's like this, except applied to everything.
You might be able to use StartSSL's free one: https://www.startssl.com/
