Silly computer manufacturers still haven't figured out that they can preload Ubuntu for $0 per device... :P

I actually just recently looked in to the 1015E, and I almost bought one but then decided to get a Samsung Chromebook. My top requirements were battery life, portability, and at least a 1366x768 screen (so that ruled out most 10" systems). The Chromebook is working out really well; its 7-hour battery life is awesome. The 1015E probably would have been OK too, but its battery life wouldn't have been as great. Kudos to Asus at least for loading Ubuntu on the 1015E-DS02.

I was just reading the Wikipedia article about crystal radios yesterday. Does this have anything to do with them?
Yes, especially since the card type is typically in the bottom corner of the card, so for a while it just looks like it's reloading the same image.
Re:Ask HN: How do you apply for a tech job?

"wear a t shirt and jeans"
I was always told "dress one level above the job you're applying for". Is that different in the tech world or the startup world?

I would love to read this article, but quartz.com is horribly broken in Opera Mobile on my phone...
I'll just wait and read it on my laptop, but this does look like a sign of Webkit bringing back the days of sites "best viewed in Internet Explorer 6".

Last I checked, making a Hackintosh was a lot of work (when it's even possible). And that's what happens when installing OS X on 95% of hardware.

Doesn't Linux technically have better hardware support than Windows, too? I've seen many laptops where a fresh install of Windows will be very broken until you load up the manufacturer's pile of drivers. Linux just has more useful built-in drivers, but I'd say that equals better hardware support.
And I seem to remember something about Google requiring all apps to light up the screen, to avoid the whole "stealth" thing.

I'm using Opera Mobile on Android 2.3 and it reflows text nicely. It has some other problems, but it's far better than the stock browser!

Or just button:focus{ outline:none; }. That should remove focus styling on all browsers, last I checked.

Yeah, I also noticed that POP doesn't work with Zoho on my Nexus. I switched to IMAP and it works fine.

I actually just switched my personal email over to Zoho today (before reading this). It's pretty nice; I was surprised not to see it mentioned here as a Gmail/Google Apps alternative.

Actually, SVG can use "classes" just like CSS, so it could be easily recolored in SVG too.

Geocities? From the first time I saw someone recommend pasting some javascript in the Description box, I knew Tumblr was the new Myspace.

I just use Unity on my computers, but I tried out Pantheon today (in elementary OS) and it's seriously cool. The window management is fairly similar to Unity but more streamlined, and the workspaces are vastly superior. The panel and dock are like what Gnome 3 should have been.

I have a Dell Mini with a tiny SSD, and I use selective sync to only sync my Documents folder. I then symlinked ~/Documents to ~/Dropbox/Documents. It works quite nicely. (and I do sync a few other folders, this is just an example)

I have that option enabled, and it just defaults to 360p. As far as I can tell, that option just makes it not increase the resolution when you click full screen.

I've seen many games that let you "earn" ingame currency by downloading apps or completing surveys. A few of these games _indirectly_ require you to download the incentivized apps by providing very few coins in the actual game, or making the ads the only way to get coins (other than with real money). Apparently that's sneaky enough for Apple.
