It was reported a few years back he'd built a bunker in New Zealand.

Quite a few actually, regular 911s often end up being daily drivers and given Porsche build them to last there's plenty of high milers out there.

The World Endurance Championship has been using synthetic fuels since 2022 from TotalEnergies (https://competition.totalenergies.com/en/auto/endurance/wec/...), there's also Sustain (https://sustain-fuels.com/) in the UK as well who seem to be growing reasonably well but are a mix of sustainable & fossil fuels. There's some variability of how green they are, you still need to burn something so there's going to be emissions as well but they've been validated in the motorsport labs as being viable and they're starting to make their way to consumers.

Bigger equals better consumer perception, I imagine driven in part by the top-tier phones being larger to fit additional battery capacity in for the higher performance processors making all larger devices carry some premium cachet.

Renault at least are keeping the small car flame alive with the 5 and a new version of the Twingo. Audi's product strategy at the moment seems to be "try everything and pivot" so they might even end up relauching the A2 by accident.

In the UK the toy chains The Entertainer and Smyths both expanded to fill the market, both usually seem to have a decent amount of footfall. Toys are an interesting product as the target market is, for the most part, not an online shopper.

When I forget where I've stashed a specific symbol or similar I just check the Via QMK configuration tool, similar to when you're trying to learn the shortcut keys for a piece of software. Eventually it's muscle-memory, but it's nice to have a reference guide whilst you're building it.

I do the same thing (Motorola Razr rather than Samsung), and I've found that working on the smaller screen means I don't get sucked into things as it's useful for quickly checking on a limited set of apps but doesn't lend itself to a "open app => consume => next app" cycle.

I actually see quite a lot of elaborate rigs that go for the trusty Logitech/Thrustmaster belt drive wheels, I guess if you've got it and it's working fine for you then build around what you've got. I on the other hand am terrible for gear acquisition syndrome so I'll skip the impressive car-in-house rig to chase the next upgrade.

I've seen plenty of comments here that read like they've been generated by an LLM, if this is a gated community we need a better gate.
Almost 40 as well, also tired of social media but I do miss social networks. This seems to hew more closely to the social network concept than being a media outlet which is lovely to see coming back.

Another take on this point, the race to the bottoming of shirts has been a disaster ecologically and has fostered a throwaway culture where people don't take care or pride in an item of clothing. There's benefits on reducing the barrier to entry, but profound downsides to it as well.

You don't have to, but it does often feel like when you use Spotify that isn't what the app would like you to do. The initial load in heavily steers you towards using a playlist instead and whilst it will occasionally list albums on the home screen it's often broken and will give you a single instead. I'm a huge Spotify user and listen to a lot of albums on it, but there's definitely merits for a more focussed experience like physical media or a digital player.

Similar experience for me, I was active answering questions about Qt (and asking plenty as well) and got approached through to go work at a startup building 3D printers with bespoke software. Took it, had a great time, learnt a huge amount outside of my skillset and got to go do the CES experience.

Out of curiosity I had a quick look to see if any of the pieces had made the market, one sold with Sothebys for $22.5k. There's a certain novelty to it that's quite appealing to me, but I'm surprised it went for that much as robots painting isn't a new concept.

I use paper notebooks as the first point for very quick rough notes which I then build on in Notion, for me it works really well as I can quickly write the point down without really needing to look which is better for focus in meetings etc. The act of capturing it twice also seems to embed it better in my memory as well, but your mileage may vary with that.

I've got very similar thoughts, I have some ACG & Acronym trousers which I rotate through and I don't have any concerns about delicacy. The biggest problem is I wear the ACG trousers so often the black dye has started to fade, the main Acronym ones I think I'll be wearing in a decade still.

Given they were bought by an investment firm for quite a frothy amount of money I'd assume it was at least partially debt leveraged and they're suffering from interest payments.
