You understand that any water used is not destroyed, right?
"Last" or "latest"? Those are rather different.
Why would you put the years in hex, except to obscure? The tracingwoodgrains report is compelling, people should listen to it.
There is the Republic of Ireland, not in UK, and Northern Ireland, in UK.
Following up on Boaz Barak's comment quoted in this article, my best local model did get the answer to the kiwi problem correct when I changed the system prompt from "You are my helpful AI assistant." to "This is a math exam."
For me the dealbreaker on Graphene was inability to record my phone conversations. I went back to Lineage.
Re:Vision language models are blind on Wednesday July 10, 2024 @04:01PM (#40930907)
Vision language models are blind because they lack the Cartesian Theater, which you and I have. Which you and I say we have.

Also, fraud.
Re:How I got scammed out of $50k on Thursday February 15, 2024 @11:47AM (#39384965)
Here are audio recordings from actual conversations I had with scammers trying to pull a "family member in distress" scam:

A true control seems impossible for any "breathwork" study; anyone doing regimented breathing knows that they are doing something. And placebos work, whether you believe in them or not (say the studies ...)

Typo "signiGicant" in abstract.
"Exactly that" hardly. Reducing funding to a level of a year ago is hardly "nothing" and most states didn't even go that far.
What do you mean by "cutting state-level university funding down to nothing over the last 15 years"?
Listen to episode 157 of the excellent podcast "Blocked and Reported" before you think this is real.
(This relates to US taxes only)

This very likely does not make a difference on your total tax bill, especially now that other deductions are limited (like mortgage interest).

Also, even if sales tax paid did make a difference on your tax paid, there is a simple calculator that estimates your sales tax paid that you can use instead of summing sales tax over all transactions.

If you want to play around with different scenarios, I recommend you try the tool "Excel1040" [1]. It is free but consider a donation. Works great in LibreOffice Calc but pay attention to the loading instructions.

It seems like we (good people) would want Apple to prevent these stolen, parted-out components from being used as replacement parts. Apple could prevent that, in theory through software that looks at secure serial numbers from components ... but how will this comport with "right to repair"?
But why CJ and not JC?
Can anyone suggest what "CJer" is short for in "AA CJer"? It apparently is used to refer to Asian American pre-med type students, but I'm curious was the CJer part is.
Re:I unschool my 5 kids. This is how much it costs on Thursday March 23, 2023 @06:07PM (#35281967)
Let's not forget the potentially large offsetting negative impacts from schooling! Violence, abusive peers and teachers, disinterested teachers and systems leading to wasted years and loss for love of learning, I could go on. And I don't think you mean "externalities" though you might.
Re:Mark Zuckerberg: “Please Resign” (2010) on Sunday March 19, 2023 @06:19PM (#35224295)
Could you explain how this relates to this discussion? I understand The Tragedy of the Commons and I don't see how that concept is relevant here.
If you would like to hear the tactics and voices of some phone scammers preying on the elderly using a "bail scam", have a listen to the audio files here:

Re:What Happens When Your Phone Is Spying on You on Wednesday March 15, 2023 @04:09PM (#35174040)
What do you mean by "Most privacy advocates probably do plenty of things I would be perfectly happy to see made illegal"? Can you give some examples of what you mean by things you want to see made illegal?
Re:SecureDrop is evolving: We want to hear from you on Saturday March 04, 2023 @10:36AM (#35021541)
I think you are very wrong about a couple of things here. According to EFF: "IT APPEARS LIKELY THAT ALL RECENT COMMERCIAL COLOR LASER PRINTERS PRINT SOME KIND OF FORENSIC TRACKING CODES, NOT NECESSARILY USING YELLOW DOTS." [1]

And if by "commercial" you mean "for the business market, not the consumer/home market", then that is also wrong. Plenty of consumer grade laser printers, including mine, print yellow tracking dots. If the EFF is correct, essentially all laser printers sold now put some sort of tracking info on the page.

As mentioned in the git README (at the bottom) there is at least one Whisper port that runs natively on Android. It does not run as fast on an Android phone as on iPhone (because of whisper.cpp optimizations for Apple silicon) but it still runs pretty well. In my tests, it does not run as fast as sending the raw audio across the network to a fast server for transcript there, which is what this post is about. But give it a try.
Yes, this could server as the conduit from the Android phone voice input to a server-based ChatGPT (using the free Konele Android app as frontend).
With this little bit of code you can use excellent voice recognition (ggerganov whisper.cpp port of Whisper) hosted on your own server, for your de-Googled Android phone, for text messaging, emails, search, and so on.

Can publications please put a publication date at the top of the piece? (There is a date, at the end, with the author, which is somewhat ambiguous.)
Is this possibly protective to the user?
Re:Inflation is at a 40 year high. What can history teach us? on Tuesday October 04, 2022 @05:33PM (#33087303)
You have a sort of a point; what I should have said was, 'The "signal path" is simply having more money in the hands of buyers, which will then necessarily cause an increase in prices.'
