Re:Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @02:56PM (#50264028)
their innovation seems to be limited to renaming the forced sidebar on amazon.com every few months and not allowing me to dismiss their useless features.
i mean, i made myself a dvd player for my steam machine. i don't see how that makes anthropic money at real token costs.

when lyft line was heavily subsidized in SF by VC money, i used it almost daily to commute to work because it cost $2.50 each way. Now that it's $20, I don't use it.

Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Thursday October 22, 2026 @02:26PM (#50199207)
Dia is terrible. Time for me to swtich to a different browser that has the sidebar tabs.
why, oh why, is everyone's first llm-assisted AI app a todo list? why are we obsessed with these productivity tools?
it's more of a condemnation of their moral compass as followers of an ideology. i don't think it's tinfoil hatting to say some of these people are completely divorced from what their average peer thinks about the value of society and human connections.
Re:Where is all the new, good software? on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @07:21PM (#50080343)
photopea existed in 2022 and is better than this current slop suite
Re:Where is all the new, good software? on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @07:20PM (#50080329)
these always seem to be written in a vacuum, and certainly not in any mainline silicon valley startup or bigco for the past two years. everyone is stressed and no one is happy.
Re:Meta and Microsoft Limit Employee Use of Claude AI Tools on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @05:35PM (#49999106)
that person seriously seemed mentally ill and it's very suspicious that we never get to see the outputs.
Re:Google Playground on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @12:43PM (#49995289)
seriously, games require balance and playtesting, and synthetic users don't count.
Re:Google Playground on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @12:42PM (#49995267)
you are smoking crack and you don't understand hollywood. i don't think you understand indie games either... what happened is other forms of entertainment ate away at the attention share, and gaming is one of them.
Re:The Tao of Backup on Monday October 05, 2026 @03:30PM (#49969370)
this is from 1997. much easier to do this in 2026.
Re:56k.rip – the 1996 dial-up internet experience on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @09:16PM (#49916513)
i think they're saying the actual speeds you'd get. i'd get faster speeds late at night (just me?)

sometimes you'd also reconnect because the handshake got messed up and you'd connect at 33.6 instead of 'real' 56k

poor quality pixel art with no sense of scale ... but most importantly, no human touch
Re:F-Droid 2.0: A New Chapter for Android Freedom on Thursday September 24, 2026 @04:25PM (#49836340)
bc android users are less picky
her response to the dm about finding some cheap artists says it all. i'm sure she didn't give her employees payment for making the posters in the past either.
mac app store / windows app store
Re:Cartesian – AI 3D Modeling for Design on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @02:57PM (#49717150)
i can't even read the website because you're animating the background, why would i trust you with architecture?
i'm guessing that by your definition almost nothing has any accountability
Re:Ambient CSS v3 – Blender meets CSS on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @03:07PM (#49526539)
you definitely reached the limits of skeumorphism. click and drag, especially along an invisible, curved path, is not user-friendly.

Re:Was Modern Art a CIA Psy-Op? (2020) on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @12:09PM (#49436397)
dude take one single art history class... (well, maybe 2 since the first one is going to give you the venus of willendorf and ionic/doric columns...) this is nonsense.
worse version of Rebirth
pretty cool but has zero sauce. just look at rebirth for how to have a point of view.
Re:Quake Shareware, a CD-ROM just a little too full on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @12:35PM (#49348276)
jeez, were you running a cyrix 6x86 in 2008??
Re:Itadakimasu: A Word You Say to the Food, Not the Cook on Monday August 10, 2026 @04:40PM (#49249407)
good lord this is over-intellectualised nonsense. it's not complex or ancient, it's actually part of the meiji era aping of western cultural semiotics, and the OP seems to misunderstand the etymology. just say itadakimasu before a meal and gochisosama after. maybe a few days later, if someone else bought you the meal: 先日(昨日)はごちそうさまでした
Re:The Warp Agent CLI on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @03:15PM (#49173536)
when i open a new tab in warp now it defaults to their agent and not my actual terminal. i'm going to have to switch back to something else, do you like wezterm?
same, OP you should put the source image and controls in a floating popover that's static while the rest of the page content is scrolled, or a sticky header or something.
Re:The coolest use for the Vision Pro on Wednesday July 29, 2026 @05:28PM (#49103307)
Arkit is the first thing i thought of and has way way more of an adressable market.
yeah. it's like a guild. hired someone to install my ev charger on an app who had lots of horror stories about apprenticeship.
