I don't ask doctors to do it for me, but I'd love my government to have enough humanity to allow me to die without pain.
And still, our right-wing politics (in France) still think euthanasia shouldn't be allowed.
Screw this world if you want, but at least let me die before you kill us all.
Love that "Wake up" is 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 precisely. So regular, so predictible.
We really need to learn to listen to our natural sleep cycles.
Beautiful story. Not very relative to HN I think, but it's good to see the world throught other points of view, sometimes.
Thanks for this post.
Got a LG Gpad 8" last year. Used it for reading comics and playing strategy/RPG games (unplayable on my 5" nexus due to screen size).
However, I hadn't used it long, and I'm thinking about selling it. A good device for consumption, but I always have a computer near me (at home or work), so useless for productive work. And I can read on my computer too. And play games.

Not infecting the Earth seems like a pretty big benefit. Can we stop beeing so selfish?
"Best practice is to delete your Hacker News account before installing" you won't get a lot of upvotes...

I'm sure I missed something.

Can I create a 'real' account and centralize all my ebooks, or do I need to create one account per ebook?
"Don't do discounts, but bundle and sale other people's discounts."
Attackers used a well-known method
(to bring down a system) known as Denial of Service (DoS)
The sentence is missing commas, but it's clearly saying that a DoS is a method.
I didn't know this app. Thanks a lot!
And now, instead of 4 persons dedicated to postal services, we have 3 for banking and 1 for posting. So. Great.
I'm in France, salaries are different. I'm around 40k/year.
In my case, I use about 150-200€ for midday lunches in a normal month (eating out, I'm in a client's office, and eating at my desk would means eating alone, and I forbid myself to do this anymore). So that's 200*12 every year.
If it's free food, it's money I don't get, so I don't have to pay taxes on this money. I'm in the 30% range, so free food = about 3k€/year salary.
Indeed... When I write "week", my brain autocompletes with "end". My bad.
I consider perks as a part of the salary. Let's take an extreme case: free food. If I can eat for free 5 days a weekend, that's a lot of money I don't have to pay!
"Whatever" can include your personal server. And you can store a truecrypt drive, no need to put your datas uncrypted.
1. Backup your documents on Dropbox/GDrive/Whatever (edit: can be you personal server. You can use Truecrypt, and not upload your datas uncrypted. The point is that you must not have the datas on your pc when you pass the border).
2. Wipe your PC.
Optional 2.5. Download a bunch of fake personal files.
3. Pass the border.
4. Access Internet.
5. Download your datas.
