I've been building a site to help someone start a small business. Think figuring out how to get a loan, what neighborhood I should build in, what permits I need, etc. I feel there is a ton of content for people wanting to start a VC funded business but not enough for small business local to your area.
Its still in the building phase but what I have currently is at:

The article says they did a test @70mph and the battery lasted 458 miles.

Kettering University does something similar but it is 3 months school 3 months work for the entirety of your schooling. It is very hectic but if you like things fast paced and the ability to work in your field of study its pretty awesome.
But wouldn't getting them to information, where they can learn about the things you just said, also be helpful? There is limited resources for people trying to help the world with these goals, wouldn't this at least help (not solve)?
I see that but I think the problem is that some generalists don't want to specialize in anything. They hired a VP of Marketing to do the marketing yet the generalist wants to continue to help do the marketing along with a bunch of other roles they hired more specialized people for.

I was thinking the same exact thing.
If you are worried about not knowing when the screenshot was taken couldn't you include in the actual file name the date the screenshot was taken in a "machine readable" format?

What range of sites are they going for? Do they consider blogs and news sites like CNN to be "Social Media"?

Getting ready to move to San Francisco. Anyone interested finding a place and creating a "hacker house"?
I was thinking the same thing. Why do you have to have an ORM to make Mongo great?
Try out xiki (
http://xiki.org) its a wrapper on top of emacs that adds a bunch of shortcuts, and its built using el4r so all the extensions are ruby based.
1.Go to meetups for languages and like minded individuals (this is harder in small towns)
2. Work on opensource
3. The are sites like techcofounder and such, not sure how well they are though.
4.Another big city thing, go work in a coworking space (this does cost some money)
For the ruby people out there you guys should try xiki (xiki.org). It extends emacs with a bunch of cool commands via el4r.
woops missed the comment below.
Yeah, I love when someone pitches me to help them build a web app for their "great idea" and then think thats it. Just because you have an MBA and an idea does not entice me.
I really like how he through in some ACDC while all the hugry people are fighting for the food. Classy.
There was just an article on HN a few days ago about how hackers and way too mean to each other. I don't think the author read it because this article has nothing to do with helping forward things.
We use each others wisdom all the time at the co-working facility I frequent.
I wouldn't call it bartering but knowledge transfer or "mentoring"
