I used 2 step verification for my gmail. Our cell phone operator cannot receive international sms (I know, that sucks), so I used my home phone, so every time I logged in to my gmail I received a call from google voice robot to tell me the pin number. It sounded perfect at first, but when I started to actually use it, I noticed everytime I needed to login to gmail, I wasn't home. I'd call my parents so they could say me the pin or use the backup codes that google provided me with. That was so uncomfortable I had to turn it off.
I can't help thinking about Google Wave :)
But when pressing some UI element gets you to other apps like browser, facebook etc, that Android back button behavior is what makes my life easier.
At least you always know where that back button on Android.
That was a great read! Thank you for sharing!

My internet connection is pretty bad. The thing is, whole country is in the same shit. Guess what, google plus doesn't even load in here. I mean, facebook(even through proxy since its blocked by govt) and others are loading perfectly, maybe with some delay, but g+ is not functioning at all. All google services are suffocating with js/ajax/whothehellknowwhat stuff, that making it almost impossible to use them if you are not at some lightning speed connection. Uhh, so pissed off!

Is MIDI bad? I mean, why do you think it should be replaced? I am not familiar with this area but I am honestly interested!

Snakes have bad impact on birds as well. Maybe not adults, but the eggs. I believe there is always a bigger fish in the ocean, everything is just a matter of equilibrium and its rules of self-control. Humans and rats probably are the only species that ignore those rules.
Re:Six-Legged Giant Finds Secret Hideaway, Hides For 80 Years on Thursday March 01, 2012 @03:34PM (#3653892)
Not exactly their niche. They might hunt for insects, but it won't be enough in terms of energy acquired. So probably they will reduce in population until rats' population will restore back.

And its good to keep rats busy. They won't wander as freely as they do now and hence eat less insects.

Re:Six-Legged Giant Finds Secret Hideaway, Hides For 80 Years on Thursday March 01, 2012 @03:05PM (#3653764)
There are always big predators at top of the biological food-energy chain. They are few in numbers. Anyways, I believe populations of cats and rats will fluctuate. Increase in cats will cause decrease in rats and then subsequent decrease in cats. Like phase difference between sine and cosine wave graphs.

I believe introducing some small wild cat population would be a right thing to do, tho I would like to hear opinions of experts.

Edit: I don't think cats are invasive in the way rats are

Re:Six-Legged Giant Finds Secret Hideaway, Hides For 80 Years on Thursday March 01, 2012 @02:34PM (#3653630)
They should import cats. Thats how they got rid from enormous rat population after Leningrad (current St.Petersburg, Russia) blockade during the WW2. That would be a natural way of annihilating rat population(passive killing).

Re:Windows 8 Consumer Preview released. on Wednesday February 29, 2012 @01:21PM (#3648970)
Exactly, Deskotp zune is soo cool visually, people always asking me what software I am using when they see it. Its way better than iTunes for music playback.

I saw it for the first time when my friend brought an windows phone 7 device. I was so fascinated by the Desktop zune, I didn't even properly played the phone itself(I saw it for the first time as well)

Re:Windows 8 Consumer Preview released. on Wednesday February 29, 2012 @01:01PM (#3648880)
I agree with you. Here in Turkmenistan mp3 market is taken almost entirely by iPod. In contrast, pc market is almost entirely (99.9%) windows. I can't show you official statistics, but I am sure the deviation from my estimations is insignificant.

People love windows in here, they are very eager to try new versions of windows (Majority of them don't even know that something else exists). Many companies with annual revenue above 1$mln usd use Excell as a primary work station. Nobody heard about Silverlight, MS Courier tablet (even me) and other "failed" MS products. Microsoft is regarded as a safe-bet. Thats what keeps many people from buying macbooks.

Thats said, I believe that majority of the world (those who don't follow tech news) think of Microsoft as they think of Windows- stable, reliable, familiar, indispensable product (company in case of Microsoft itself).

Re:What Happens to the Coke in Coca-Cola? on Sunday February 26, 2012 @10:04AM (#3635727)
Honest question: Whats Coke and whats Coca-Cola. In some countries they sell it as "Coke". Here in Turkmenistan it's Coca-Cola. Is it a branding stuff? Or something different?

Re:Microsoft needs Wizards: A 1984 Microsoft job posting on Friday February 24, 2012 @02:38PM (#3630637)
Whether that indeed a decay is questionable.

Sony had its own approach to this(citing Yoshide Nakamura): Our company management felt that to prepare the company for the digital network era of the 21 century, it was important to have the most appropriate organizational structure in place. That was the core reason why we created our new structure. Sony is a large company now. Our worldwide consolidated sales are over $56 billion, with 170,000 employees, but in spirit we always try to be small venture company. We want to maintain this, So when Mr.Nabuyuki Idei became president in April 1995, he gave us two slogans: "Regeneration" and "Digital Dream Kids." Thats the spirit of being small and going back to when we started Sony in 1946. So we want to make Sony smaller. Instead of having this huge corporation, he wants to organize Sony into four divisional companies so that a small venture capital spirit can be brought into management

Can you elaborate about the war? I thought Office and Windows are kind of Siamese twins, unable to survive without each other.

Re:Kids are the future; teach them how to code on Thursday February 09, 2012 @01:41PM (#3572381)
I agree with you! Working with children I realized how amazingly fast they are able to pick up anything you teach them. I wish I had someone to teach me coding at age of 8 or something. Its just amazing seeing kids do stuff in a weeks I myself could only do after months or years of learning programming
Re:Kids are the future; teach them how to code on Thursday February 09, 2012 @01:34PM (#3572329)
I ususally use lynda.com resources. I also have problems with teaching something beyond html/css, but usually with enough repetitions and assignments students finally "get it". Brightest students of mine are the ones who really interested in programming. So, in order to make it interesting, I tell them about what sites like Google and Facebook are programmed like, how their best video games work, how they can make a "simple" version of their facebook like social site. They seem to get motivated by those talks of mine :)
Re:Kids are the future; teach them how to code on Thursday February 09, 2012 @01:19PM (#3572252)
I always think of this. Not because I have kids, but because I teach children coding(web development). I have 2 groups, 13-14 years olds and 15-16 years olds. The younger group learns everything twice as faster. I plan to teach my kinds basic logic, maths, chess and after coding starting from age 4.
