Re:Google's sidebar for rust is the programming language on Friday October 08, 2021 @07:55AM (#28798198)
This is not a great experience for the majority of users. Even suggested questions like "What is Rust written in?" is going to confuse so many people.
Re:Roblox raises $520M at $29.5B valuation on Thursday January 07, 2021 @11:36AM (#25673195)
Just thought of downloading the game to understand what all this valuation is about, but the reviews in the iOS App Store are so so fake, it stopped me right there from installing it.

Re:Ask HN: What do you use instead of Gmail? on Thursday March 01, 2018 @06:38AM (#16491210)
I've used it for custom domain mailboxes as well. It's ok, has 2FA as well.

Or more like, you write unit tests even if no one asked you to.

Hope this spectre doesn't meltdown.

Ask HN: Should I worry about software patents?

A patent like this http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2016/0342709.html is a straightforward way of persisting graph data on RDBMS. If I wish to create an open source alternate implementation of a GraphDB with similar design, should I be bothered? Can I get away with minor tweaks in the design?

Re:SQL Keys in Depth on Tuesday January 02, 2018 @11:59AM (#16053190)
"There’s no need to manually create indexes on columns already declared unique; doing so would just duplicate the automatically-created index." Is the last part real? Makes me feel like forking postgesql just to save the world from accidental duplicate expensive indexes.
Happy to have gladdened you! btw, I'm also in a sea of thrashing downvotes.
I mean like there are bigger problems out there man. And plain stupid to focus it all on Mark, he's just having fun.
Everyone against Facebook is just jealous. Admit it. You don't want a world that's not connected, and Facebook executed it brilliantly.
Re:Is Joe Armstrong kidding? on Saturday November 29, 2014 @01:59AM (#8673289)
Agree. But that line is the crux! They should have implemented this match to begin with, to functionally make use of maps!
Re:Is Joe Armstrong kidding? on Friday November 28, 2014 @02:04AM (#8669972)
If you check the errata #77244, that's his ONE SINGLE example of how you can use pattern matching with maps. I smiled as I read the example. But when I tried it, boom! That piece of code does not run on any released version of Erlang, and I am here trying out Erlang to see if I can use it in my enterprise project! The most disappointed I have been while learning any language.
