I don't disagree but this assumes he was having good faith arguments. Look at his comments in the broader context of his ideologies. You're cherry picking.

oh god shut up
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Saturday September 13, 2025 @08:21AM (#45231462)
Yeah... moderate. This is just a few of his "moderate" comments.

Racial comments targeting Black Americans

Pilots and qualifications: In a January 2024 episode of his podcast, Kirk said, "If I see a Black pilot, I'm going to be like, 'Boy, I hope he's qualified'". The comment came during a segment criticizing DEI initiatives in the airline industry.

Customer service: In a January 2024 podcast episode, Kirk remarked, "If I'm dealing with somebody in customer service who's a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?".

"Prowling Blacks": In May 2023, Kirk claimed on his show that "prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people".

"Brain processing power": Kirk claimed that prominent Black women like Michelle Obama and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson "lacked the brain processing power" to understand complex topics, and only succeeded through affirmative action.

George Floyd and Martin Luther King Jr.: He made disrespectful comments about Black leaders. During a 2021 speech, Kirk called George Floyd a "scumbag". In December 2023, he referred to Martin Luther King Jr. as "awful" and "not a good person".

Civil Rights Act of 1964: Kirk repeatedly referred to the Civil Rights Act as a "huge mistake," calling it an "anti-white weapon".
Other controversies involving racism

White nationalist rhetoric: Kirk promoted the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory, which alleges a plot to replace white Americans with nonwhite immigrants.

Promotion of extremists: Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the conservative youth organization Kirk founded, has a history of attracting white nationalists and featuring speakers with extremist views. In 2022, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) documented racist and homophobic incidents involving TPUSA members.

Criticism from within conservative circles: In 2023, Kirk drew criticism from fellow conservatives, including Ben Domenech of The Federalist, over antisemitic remarks. Kirk later attempted to clarify his comments and was given a prime speaking slot at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

Uh... do you know how/why this country was founded? Don't be obtuse.
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:11PM (#45225547)
lmao you should watch these debates. he wasn't an "open minded" individual and lied in a pathological manner.
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:10PM (#45225532)
I personally think its A-OK to censor fascists, but to each his own.
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:09PM (#45225525)
You should move out of the US if you're here, since political violence is a cornerstone of this country since day 1. How people are acting like this is unique are really baffling to me.
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:08PM (#45225517)
He cared about white lives. You should edit your comment, bud.
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Friday September 12, 2025 @03:07PM (#45225502)
Yes, he was a terrible human being. Some of you people are pathetically carrying water for fascism. Sad sick world

He's being martyred on purpose. I wonder what people both sides-ing it on HN would do in the 1940s....
Re:It's Not Just You. No One Wants Kids Anymore [video] on Wednesday August 14, 2024 @12:49PM (#41248095)
My nephew is severely autistic. My brother and his wife struggle mightily and my hat is off to him. I don’t have the strength to do something like that, so I add it as another reason children are not for me.
Re:It's Not Just You. No One Wants Kids Anymore [video] on Wednesday August 14, 2024 @12:44PM (#41248050)
Your kids aren’t here to be “your best friend” or be your insurance plan for old age. Some of y’all need reexamine why you brought life into this world.
Re:It's Not Just You. No One Wants Kids Anymore [video] on Wednesday August 14, 2024 @12:41PM (#41248023)
I’ve never really heard a compelling argument for myself to want to have kids. Most of my friends/family have said one of these

“it’s just what you do”

“I want a mini-me” (yikes)

“I don’t wanna adopt. I want my OWN kid”

“I want a best friend”

“I want someone to take care of me when I’m old”

To me these all read as selfish which is why I never reached a compelling conclusion to have my own kids.

So not having kids is selfish? Ha. Ok.
Re:Ask HN: How do you personally stay fit? on Friday May 31, 2024 @11:50AM (#40536673)
Mid-40s here. I have always struggled to stay fit, but I am now in best shape I have ever been.

Kettlebell 2-3X a week for 20-30 mins. I love FitnessBlender YouTube for beginner and intermediate friendly programs. Kettlebell is an amazing full body HIIT workout that improves your muscle mass but also flexibility and general fitness level.

Mixed cardio 2x a week - I love running but it messes with my knees and shins. I usually do sprint training on a treadmill 1x a week, then one longer run (4-6 miles on Fridays). I also really like doing stairmaster, the TikTok walk (12% incline, 3mph for 30 mins), etc...

Stopped drinking alcohol last year, but swapped for weed, so my munchies and diet are an issue. I started stocking up on lots of fruit and healthy stuff when I get a craving. No sugary drinks. Lots of water.

Good luck.

Isn’t this a scene from Vegas Vacation? Clark is betting on “guessing a number” that the dealer has in his head and so on?

Re:How have you found purpose in your life? on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:26PM (#39516941)
Just having something I am really passionate about doing and striving toward. I feel so ho hum. I don't think life itself needs a purpose, but I would like my life moving forward to mean something to me. I can't figure out what I want it to mean.
Re:How have you found purpose in your life? on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:25PM (#39516924)
I can't have just one. That was the whole issue.
Re:How have you found purpose in your life? on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:23PM (#39516912)
Reading this book now! It actually started getting me thinking on this topic more to begin with.

Thanks for sharing. His podcast has been hit or miss for me, but I will check these out!
Re:How have you found purpose in your life? on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:20PM (#39516886)
Thanks. I live in a city where the main "thing to do" is drink. Hence me trying to get more active, since it's a way to hopefully meet more people at some point.

This is a good point. Thank you
Re:How have you found purpose in your life? on Monday February 26, 2024 @04:15PM (#39516838)
I guess I should have been more explicit. I am not looking for the purpose OF LIFE. I am looking for the purpose of MY LIFE. If that makes sense...

How have you found purpose in your life?

I gave up drinking and started getting more into exercise recently, which has helped my mental clarity a lot. As a daily drinker for over 15+ years, I was in quite a mental fog and I expect to need a lot more time to come out of it.However, as I began to emerge from said fog over the last few months, the lack of purpose in my life was clear. Work is just a job, I have a few hobbies I enjoy...

Same, but broke millenial here. Will be working until day I die, likely. Sucks. Never had the momentum to accumulate wealth, and now I have no idea what to do.
