Re:Show HN: Makex: A Modern Build/Automation Tool on Monday January 20, 2025 @02:21PM (#42772086)
Oh, by the way, there were questions/concerns about the non license before. Partly issues with our build/deploy. We think we've resolved that. See: https://hg.sr.ht/~metacompany/makex/browse/LICENSE.md?rev=ti... :-)

Show HN: Makex: A Modern Build/Automation Tool

http://documents.meta.company/makex/latest/index.html

Hi Everyone!I want to show Makex, a modern build/automation tool.It has been under development for approximately 1 year, receiving many improvements over this time.Makex was designed to replace the original Make, and to supplant Bazel and other related build systems. It's built for handling large monorepos, while keeping it open for a hybrid/mono/multi-repo future. It's also designed for safety,...

Fairly deep bugs for a Bazaar.

All: somehow the URL changed without any notice... See https://meta.company/go/makex/ until it's fixed.

And that's called confusion.

Challenging a company like Facebook in courts costs millions and years. There's no such thing as pro-bono here.

Not done with them yet. We have some plans.

Should have some basic support within a couple months when I get time... It'll take some work... We have a bunch of things that either need to be built on Windows or [cross-platform] for Windows. It's not a high priority at the moment.

We'll have binaries/exes too, so one doesn't have to install Python.

Feel free to use it. It's supposed to be pervasive.

License will be published soon, but we're deciding on things. That takes time and thought.

Love to hear your opinions.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone!Makex is a better build/automation tool. It was conceived about two weeks ago. It's already useful, and it’s completely replacing all of our Makefiles, among other internal build files and scripts... It builds and deploys itself entirely.Makex was produced after decades of experience with Make/Makefiles and numerous other build/automation/run tooling…Makefiles are ugly, hard to...

Re:75 percent of exclusive hardwood may be illegally harvested on Saturday October 28, 2023 @01:47PM (#38051909)
Could be. I saw more than 30+ massive logs and healthy piths in a back lot of the woods; stacked carefully before being removed; maple and oak. Given the level of local corruption, this forest management deserves the suspicion.

The city and the locality was recently accused of cutting down too many trees for numerous reasons/projects. Unless you are adamant, they are quite aggressive about killing things in parkways.

I think it would be better to leave things where they are in "Forest Preserves"... Maybe one day we'll have [unmanaged] old growth forests again.

I think I've seen it done locally, in the USA... "Forest Preserves" cutting down old growth maple/oaks, and piling the massive logs in parking lots until hauled away... I think I've also seen significant "over-pruning" for the sake of the construction of various pathways and "theme parks" for humans.

Sounds egotistical.

> have an AI that is far more realistic then anything today that someone interacts with daily for any number of things

How is this good?

I fixed that. I meant please don't ask me specific questions about our legal matters or product.

Hey everyone!

I'm a casual observer of this community and it's one of the few I usually enjoy reading. I've learned much from your comments --- even from the vitriol of the occasional troll.

We've been working real hard. I didn't want this to be our announcement; here or anywhere. This launch was supposed to be different. If anything, I wanted my first post here to be about our product.

I am a real systems engineer and we build real products with real world application. It's been a stressful 2 years for everyone, it's been an additionally stressful last week for me.

I appreciate any questions and comments, but please understand our situation, and be respectful and patient until I get back to you. Please, let's keep it technical.

Thank You!

Sincerely,

Nate Skulic
