I'm a generalist software developer proficient in all stages of software development life cycle focused on back-end open source technologies. I've designed, built, deployed, and maintained distributed solutions using a variety of stacks on multiple platforms, scaled single server existing code bases, and built remote teams.

Looking for a full-time IC role preferably using Python stack.

I've been even too lazy to type in more than need to identify the command: https://github.com/naquad/QuickRun
well, calling all Russian engineers "Sexist, Dirty and Unemployable" because of one retard is pretty much the same as saying all English-speaking engineers are "panicing, judging and inadequate idiots" because of author of this post :\
FYI: I've been playing around DevDocs and VIM integration. In the end came up with this script: https://github.com/naquad/devdocs-shell - Python 3 + GTK3

very ironically: service for monitoring shows 500 error
Oh! Indeed we forgot to talk about moral in UNIX-like OS software discussion. Oh my, how could we?..
Then go for it. Use it yourself, I don't mind that. Fork Debian/Arch/Ubuntu whatever and be happy. I don't want that.
The fact that systemd is spreading is depressing me. Thank god there'll be at least alternative.
> Just because it works for you does not mean it works for everybody else. The mess of log files below /var/log has been a problem for a long time. The format is not descriptive enough, there timestamps are second resolution only, no timezone information, and yet the times are in local timezone.

Have you ever tried to actually configure your syslog?

> Please don't hold on /var/log/messages just because it has been like that for ages. That should not be the justification for it existing.

Seriously, did you ever try to configure it?

> That's funny, because my experience has been that writing init.d scripts is painful and even package maintainers sometimes get it wrong.

For simple cases init.d script is mostly overkill, personally I had to write generator for this stuff. Solved 99% of probles in simple cases. But in complex cases where you split configuration (hello /etc/{conf.d,default}/*) or need to make custom actions (no matter which), service files lose. Now you have to write a wrapper that will be actually started by systemd. Who were saying what about redunant entities?

Could somebody please remove Lennart Poettering? This systemd thing is a mess that tries to do way too much. I've had a huge pain rewriting couple dozens of init.d scripts with custom logic to service files. Friends of mine complained on that too. I'm really glad that systemd is not adopted Debian so I won't have this pain on servers. Also journalctl is not a convinient tool, less and bunch of files were working much better for me.

Ask HN: Modern GUI VIM-like editor?

I very like VIM editor, its concept is just awesome and when you get used to it your efficiency becomes over 9^1000. But VIM has issues:1. Single threaded. Stuff like CtrlP or NeoComplCache are running in foreground and you can't do anything until they finish.2. Lacks API.3. Very IMHO: vim-script is not an example of good design.4. No real UI.5. No embedded console.6. Plugins don't play nice...

Informational noise reduction.

HN covers lots of subjects (IT, scientific news, business news, social and lots of other stuff) while not providing any tools to sort out what one doesn't need/interested in.

During 2 days I've received ~1k news. For me there were 12 useful. I've skimmed through a 20-screen long list to find those 12 and didn't even try to look through all others because there is just too much of informational noise. So please add some categories or tags to news.

Thank you.
