Encouraging words for designers.
Well if you weren't interested why did you even apply at all?
Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week
There is probably a better chance if we can become cyborgs fast enough.
Another possibility is that everyone, or better everything that has ever been, can be ressurected providing Heisenberg was not completely right. It seems reasonable that sometime along our civilization we will find a way to trace back and reconstruct every part of history.
Most importantly, when we do eventually meet an alien, always remember to count in radians.
"The high rate of failure in scientific research should be sufficient to convince us of the lack of effectiveness in its design."
Wow that is the coolest thing ever. Would love to have one of those for my mechanics classes. Great work.
and another piece of the puzzel
That exactly is the point.
It is true that investors will find it a tad more difficult to reject a group once they feel like they know you. By sitting down you would appear more human, whereas standing up gives a more commercial look.
From a sales course I recently attended, the lecturer told a sequence from one of her recent trips. They were in a small town in Turkey and she and some friends had just gotten off a bus. A sorry looking man came up to her and asked, "Do you have any medicine for my head?" She was caught off guard and responded, "What?" The man points to his head and says, "My head pains, do you have any medicine?" She then understood that he was talking about painkillers and eventually got some painkillers from one of her friends and handed them to the man. With a big smile on his face, the man says, "You are very kind! Come I show you my shop."
the flip side... that sounds like the good life
That was part of the intention yes.

There is a trend in Hacker News.I remember when I first registered on YC news there were way less direct(no external url) submissions. Or so it seemed. This should be due to the nearing deadline for YC applications. It is vitally important to get as much positive attention from pg as possible; in fact it serves as one of YC news' main functions. But people should not try to be visible just for...
quote Nas:
"No ideas original, theres nothing new under the sun. Its never what you do, but how its done."
20 + 1st year in industrial design engineering
Is facebook really worth 5 billion? If so Mark Zuckerberg should really consider selling more %. The way I see it facebook serves some basic wants but it is far from the ultimate website, which should take over within the next two years when web developers start to fullfill the potential of Internet.
This article is extremely biased but the points made are legit. Facebook needs to develop its 2.0 or start selling while its stocks are high.
Business should be just like basketball, doing what you love. Then again if the world was already perfect how could anyone get lucky?
well that was entertaining
First olive oil was good, then bad, then good again. It seems that they can find negatives about any food. People have to just stop avoiding and start living. Power to the brain.
I love lucid dreaming, too bad that most of my dreams are only semi-lucid. There was just once that I woke up in the middle of the night and then convinced myself to enter a specific dream and it worked, the process took about 5 seconds (or so it seemed).
However I have to say I love the common non-lucid dreams more. You shouldn't always have what you want, and from personal experience I have learned much from unfortunate situations.
Random comment: Everytime I leave a comment here there is pressure to impress YC. This pressure either raises the quality of my messages or make them less honest.
First impression is important. You got an ordinary grey building on one side, and Taj Mahal on the other. Which one would you rather walk into?
Next round of Y Combinator starts in January, plenty of time to learn the mechanics of designing. Your already got a head start from the experience of personal preferences.
I would like if there is a function to hide and expand the comments. For example one click on a comment will hide itself and all its sub-comments. It is a good way to organize the discussions, and I always believe a website is at its best when scrolling is minimized.
I don't think it will hurt to submit an application even if you don't get an interview. Writing up the application gives you a different understanding of your project, and you are probably going to get some great feedback as a bonus.
Thanks for the explanation, I will retype them and update.
want to report a minor bug in the application form
when typing the symbol ' (as in pg's) and then pressing update, a bunch of letter looking like "ÃÂ" appear in front of the symbol ' in the updated version.
This article is great for filtering applications for Y Combinator.
