News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

If it's not working it's because there isn't enough of it, silly.

"Last month BTP announced it was extending the trial for a further four months and expanding the deployments to include London Underground stations. "

I like the way it smashes the CPU so that the fans sound like jet engines.

Obviously you need to use an AI to summarise the wall of text generated by the AI. Duh.

The 2N3904 is an old friend who has never changed. I've been using him since the 80s and he's still my first choice whenever anything general-purposey comes along.
That was exactly my experience with AI coding - useful for ideas and boiler plate code, but not much more.

I had to stop at 100 or I would have been there all day.

Very nice, but I did end up seeing what rude words I could make.
It's also far more difficult to read the numbers relating to the items in the drop down menu. You have to make an effort to track to the right with your eyes to make sure you are in the same row, whereas before the number was right next to the item. There is no need to have the numbers aligned because they are not for comparison.

The first time I've actually appreciated my laptop's touch screen.
There seems to me to be a lot of misplaced trust involved in connecting to Wifi networks. It's easy to set up your own public AP and why not call it "Netork Rail Free Wifi" or something?

I can't believe how well this works. Brilliant stuff.
They don't continuously prove that they are huge gaping arseholes with the intellect of a mollusc like he does.

I tried the example with FF on Ubuntu, and it had no effect whatsoever. It didn't even use up any memory. Are browsers protecting against this now?

Nope.
Maybe LSD or mushrooms?
Blog updated and the following added:

Thanks to all the good people on Hacker News for their input, from which I've learned a lot. I should stress that any following advice is not from a professional plumber and is purely from my own experience as an idiot making a low pressure beer handling system. It should not be read as the proper way to do anything, especially if you are working on pressurised systems and definitely totally 100% not with gas fittings. Get someone in to do that, you lunatic. Seriously. Don't mess with gas.

Mate, I'm not a plumber and it's 100% written from the perspective of someone who is not a plumber. This article is not an instruction manual for plumbers, but a blog of what a non-plumber found to work for him.
In this case, both. Sorry.
Having just completed a small project involving plumbing, this post on my blog comes from the heart.
Jobs or a habitable planet. Which to choose, which to choose...

This is basically just guessing with style.

The way I see it, IP is a useful short-term tool to encourage the creation of new ideas, but if used long-term, it stifles creativity in others and takes away some of the incentive for the owner to continue creating.
Some of the prototype designs for the aerials are currently being made by a bloke called Pete, in the room next to me. He keeps his bike locked to a table and it gets in everyone's way, so we let his tyres down occasionally. They don't tell you that sort of thing in articles like this.
Has the 20-20-20 rule actually been scientifically verified as the optimal regime for relieving eye strain or was it something thought up by some bloke off the top of his head?
Re:How to Ship an F1 Car Across the Globe in 36 Hours on Saturday November 22, 2014 @04:11PM (#8646674)
Undoubtedly. I read the first paragraph and thought "this is a DHL advert".
That's the joke.
Slightly tinfoil hat rant there. The UK government does not decide what you watch, what they have done is pressure ISPs to provide optional filtering (set up by the ISP), with the default set to on. I don't like this and argue against it. It doesn't help my case when bullshit like this gets thrown about.
