Sounds about right. About the only way you could justify the projection of making so much hand over fist.
But can they actually pull it off? Since the open models are kind of able to pull off the same things.
Maybe they can brute force faster, but not releasing allows another to scoop it.
"The plaintiff (Sony Music Entertainment GmbH) then used a VPN to access the blocked content from Germany in circumvention of the geoIP blocking. The court agreed with Sony in their assertions of noncompliance, and we were fined for contempt of court."
Imagine doing everything possible to stop something. They then circumvent your protections with yet another service, and you get fined.
I wish I could even suggest what someone could do against these trolls.
This is like saying "we put a lock requested by court and where found guilty because plantif hacked us after"
This has existed since the 1800's. John Marshall for example. Its most likely a feature, not a bug.
This is well worth the entire watch. It feels like what would any hacker do in trying to figure out how to make something they want to exist. Also very well presented and good pace.
Inspires me to try and start doing some robotics.
I'd say just knowing when to walk away in anything, not just this industry, is one of the best skills you can have as a human.
I wouldn't go that far. Its more a post about the grief of losing the human element to coding, which I think is fine.
Perhaps for once people realize its a shit show everywhere
"Solve the Riemann hypothesis, make no mistakes"
What actual industries where you could get a phd in, died?
If I was to ever suggest one, it would be Philosphers.
Yet they have found ways to get tenure and/or other jobs for as long as the field exists.
If it's going to be this binary. Then there has to be a shift in the way this is handled. It shouldn't be "You wrote these terrible things to a computer, you're now accused of doing them" to maybe "We where notified you wrote these terrible things, and the a psychiatric evaluation is being mandated by the state in which has a law about this sort of thing"
Obviously, as others have pointed out if they don't act and she does the crime it raises the damned if you do damned if you don't. But I've also had the AI's go haywire saying I'm doing all sorts of nefarious things when literally doing math proofs.
So no one size fits all. But going the extreme first is probably not ideal.
Probably the same thing that's happening now. Some cases will get overturned on appeal.
Salad fingers.
That was the creepiest thing ever when it came out.
Rusty spoons.
Remember to renew your support for the EFF. They take on some interesting cases
The onion is the prophet we needed but never knew we had.
We're going to have people understand maths more now than ever before.
See proofs never before possible made by someones intuition.
But maybe they wont be mathematicians.
This is the main takeaway from all this.
La liga isn't even necessary, in similar vain another site blockin
"Yout then filed an official appeal at Spain’s Supreme Court. Among other things, the site objected to the fact that it wasn’t in any way involved in the blocking lawsuit.
The Supreme Court denied hearing this appeal because Yout.com is not a party to the legal procedure. That was, ironically, one of the main reasons why the appeal was filed in the first place."

For a foot company you'd think they wouldn't want themselves to have one less foot. But here we are.
Well, there is physics for an alcubierre drive, so these moronic takes have answers too.
Back in the day you could think of a cool idea. I don't know maybe a plane that could fly without drag. To even see if this was feasable you had to understand physics, engineering, and then from there you had to have a math person see if it was actually possible.
Now, I can ask ChatGPT about this and get back a proof that shows "a passive airframe cannot sustain zero-drag motion through still, viscous air"
So, I think if anything now, Maths has changed for the better. More ideas can be proven false or true from a get go instead of wasting so much to see if its even feasible to find out it isn't.
Progress if anything is about to leap frog anything we have ever known.
What is this man talking about. You can speak physics into existance now, yet it still has to be proven with math. Until we are walking through worm holes and driving around in spaceships that travel in a warp drive could he even begin to say there is non-renewable. But even then..
Funny thing is I heard that many years ago, but someone specifically asked me why I made a site. Yet that human slop got huge. And seems people do like this, so thanks for the earlier comment, helped advance it a bit, slop or not.
I haven't done math since college. Now the things I struggled with I was able to grasp. So much so that I was able to prove a conjecture, small one, but nothing in my life I thought I would of, its even getting peer reviewed.
Its drudgery to prove these things. But man it feels cool when you do.
I now have a better understanding of the entire physical mechanics of life around me, to a gravitational sort of understanding.
Simply because I thought I had a conceptual understanding of p vs np. And after weeks I was able to prove myself wrong.
People seem to worry that AI is going to take away everything. But my experience is that I feel more able to create even ideas before I would never imagine.
It feels more like in HG Wells where he's in the far future talking to the AI about his equations and the AI says "oh your talking about time travel, thats impossible"
It feels like that reality is now more likely than any other, anyone can invent anything now and have the math to back it up.
You can speak physics into existance. I'm excited for the future
Added. Thanks. Came from also what I wished exited back in the day.
