Nothing but snark in this comment. You can and should do better.
Re:GitLab Outage on Thursday September 24, 2026 @07:13PM (#49838052)
Just went to push code and found this out.
The recycling process isn’t direct battery-to-battery. The lead from old batteries is removed, purified, dried into ingots, then sold back to battery manufacturers to make new batteries. In other words, it’s likely that every lead acid battery you buy is made from recycled batteries.

Good rundown of the process here: https://batterycouncil.org/battery-facts-and-applications/ho...

Ah, bummer haha

As in North East, PA, the town in Erie County?
I can finally automate our wildcard certs. Our current DNS host doesn’t have an API.
I’ve had mine for nearly five years, USB charging continues to work.

For those looking for an SSG with WYSIWYG, please take a look at Publii. I have no affiliation other than being a user, but I wish more people were aware of it.
Re:Project Nomad – Knowledge That Never Goes Offline on Sunday March 22, 2026 @04:29PM (#47481809)
I had thought of building those exact Civil Defense devices a few years ago. Maybe it’s a viable product?
Re:Tell HN: Discord Is Down on Saturday December 27, 2025 @07:07PM (#46406906)
Seems back to normal now.

Tell HN: Discord Is Down

Discord appears to be down. Can’t open the macOS app, as it can’t connect to the updates server. iOS app opens, but no new messages appear in any rooms.

I personally haven't had Chrome installed anywhere in years. I think there are more than a dozen of us!
100% agreed, it’s been my experience traveling for the past ten years as well.
Re:Apple Debuts iPhone 17 on Tuesday September 09, 2025 @04:41PM (#45188682)
Same here. I’m going to get a new battery soon, so that’ll give me a few more years. I’m hoping something comes along in that time that I want. Otherwise, I may just go to a Japanese eInk phone.
Re:Hiroshima (1946) on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @11:48PM (#44807405)
This is specifically called out as a reason in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. I was there just a few weeks ago. It's also available here:

"The United States believed that ending the war with an atomic bombing would help prevent the Soviet Union from extending its sphere of influence."

I use Berkanan for just this purpose. Sometimes my partner and I don’t sit next to each other, and it’s an easy way to message.

Wow just saw this interaction. Sorry about that racist ass’s comments.
Re:What Would a Kubernetes 2.0 Look Like on Friday June 20, 2025 @06:53AM (#44326523)
Per the K3s web site and their docs, they don’t call out that it’s good for bare metal production. That tells me it’s not built for heavy workloads, and is instead for dev environments and edge compute.
Re:Juneteenth in Photos on Friday June 20, 2025 @05:04AM (#44325855)
They’re all made up.
Exactly the same as you said. Nobody rents GPUs as cheap as I can get them for LLM work in-cluster.
Looks like your video is k3s. Just a heads up to others hoping for a k8s bare metal setup.
Re:The Cryptography Behind Passkeys on Thursday May 15, 2025 @05:54AM (#43993414)
Agreed Stefan! I keep mine in separate vaults for this purpose. I’m still not on board with passkeys yet, but the discussion here makes BitWarden seem like the best solution.
Client certs were amazing, wholeheartedly agree!

I see you are suffering from something that always happened to me when championing them: they were so unknown that people assumed you meant PGP…sigh.

Stop spamming the thread, sheesh.
