Re:Looks like Bootsnipp.com has been hacked (and defaced) on Monday February 01, 2016 @03:45AM (#11010580)
But I wonder why? I wasn't aware that Bootsnipp had any political/ideological message that would clash with ... well ... anything?
Re:Microsoft Band 2.0 Review on Saturday October 31, 2015 @06:45AM (#10482329)
Well- I guess its the same than with Cortana integration us. Here in NZ we don't have Cortana and/or the band (1 or 2).

While I have "Google now" on my Android and iPhone users can use Siri. I guess Microsoft simply isn't interested in small markets. Australia (bigger market) get's the Cortana and the Band.

Re:Classeur.io: Re-enjoy writing, with Markdown on Tuesday October 27, 2015 @05:30AM (#10456987)
When it comes to markdown I think I stick to Haroopad. It's cross platform and has pretty much all I need -> http://pad.haroopress.com/
Re:Early Bird vs. Night Owls on Wednesday July 01, 2015 @05:09AM (#9810741)
Yeah, you're right- while they are talking about side effects, they are not really highlighting what actually is more productive.
Re:Early Bird vs. Night Owls on Wednesday July 01, 2015 @12:12AM (#9810032)
I recently had a discussion with a co-worker who is amendment that she is more productive programming planning at night. I used to be the same, but I have switched to an early morning start instead and found that the quality of my work increased drastically. I guess it depends on the person- but I wonder if anyone would have had similar experiences?
Re:Knwl.js – A JavaScript NLP on Thursday June 04, 2015 @08:05AM (#9658640)
I like it. I wonder if it would work with mixed in Markdown annotation.
That looks like I need to give it a go. Thanks for showing!
Very sad news- but unlike many others that died, he will not be forgotten.
Re:Cmder – Portable console emulator for Windows on Saturday May 02, 2015 @03:41PM (#9478272)
Yeah, I find it slow as well (not babun, haven't tried it yet). ConEmu always did the job for me, but I might give babun a go.
Re:Elevator.js on Wednesday April 22, 2015 @03:12AM (#9418968)
Don't stop re-inventing things! I know there probably are hundreds of those scripts/plugins out there - but this one made me laugh! Well done!
Re:Maybe crickets aren't the food of the future on Sunday April 19, 2015 @06:16AM (#9402635)
I always found the "crunchiness" off putting :) (that was a joke, I draw my line at two pairs of legs.
Yeah, I've been using it for a while on my windows boxes. I was very happy at first, but later on I got issues with updating the products. I haven't tried it in a while though.
Re:Nokia Agrees to Buy Alcatel-Lucent for $16.6B on Wednesday April 15, 2015 @06:38AM (#9380003)
I've heard rumours Samsung is already using HERE heavily internally. So it would make sense- but what will happen to the other that are currently using it to (they've mentioned Microsoft, BMW etc. in the article).
Re:Nokia Agrees to Buy Alcatel-Lucent for $16.6B on Wednesday April 15, 2015 @05:48AM (#9379858)
I just hope whoever buys HERE doesn't screw it up. At the moment I do like them more than the google maps. They are also cheaper when it comes to licenses.
Re:Athens asks Germany for 279bn euros for Nazi occupation on Tuesday April 07, 2015 @07:48AM (#9333257)
Ah, I didn't know all that. Do you have some links regarding this? Very interesting.
Re:Athens asks Germany for 279bn euros for Nazi occupation on Tuesday April 07, 2015 @07:39AM (#9333213)
Whow- I hope they won't get through with that. If they are going to get through with that- where does it end? It will set an example for all the other struggling economies in the EU to extort money out of what appears to be the only performing economy in the EU at the moment.
I have to say, I was fairly suprised of the way the interview was conducted. It was somewhat refreshing to see not the same questions being asked all over and over again. I think Mr. Oliver & his team picked very well what the average Joe does care about. Very well done!
Re:Toolkit on Sunday April 05, 2015 @03:43AM (#9323428)
It's good to see something else than Bootstrap. If you like this, have a look at: http://www.semantic-ui.com/ - I love using this as every component can be downloaded separately.
Re:Ask HN: How do I become a faster programmer? on Saturday March 21, 2015 @07:16AM (#9242424)
I completely agree with that! I know so many people coding ridiculous hours, and all they do is causing more problems the next day. Less hours = Better focus

Plan your food and sleep. Probably exercise. Get a fitbit (or similar) and find your sweet spot (sleep tracking is awesome with those things). When you feel good- you're most effective.

If you're having deadlines, take long breaks and go back to work after you've done something different (essentially shift working but within reasonable hours).

Don't "overdose" yourself with energy drinks, or too much coffee/tea. I have found that some energy drinks do affect my ability to focus negative. Same with coffee- too much is limiting (my) ability to focus.

All those things helped me. It can be different for you, but it's probably a start.

Re:Vivaldi – A new browser for our friends on Tuesday January 27, 2015 @06:23AM (#8952486)
My first thought was: "Crap another browser. Fun times." - but I guess it will be alright since everything seems to run on bootstrap & co anyways ...
Re:Amazon Echo on Thursday November 06, 2014 @04:28PM (#8569915)
Buahahahaha - Brilliant! Thank you Siri!
Re:Amazon Echo on Thursday November 06, 2014 @04:20PM (#8569855)
Very interesting device. I just fear that they will lock it down' like it's the 90's and would come with no open API. And then of course the security stuff... but that's everywhere now ...
I agree. A simple strategy for the "European capitals" would be to learn the size of them in conjunction. I guess the key is to search for something useful that you can relate to easier? For Example: London, 8.3 Mil; Berlin 4.3 Mil and so on...
Re:Project Euler Returns on Friday August 15, 2014 @09:05AM (#8181940)
Agreed! Well done guys!
Re:Mapbox GL for the Web on Thursday August 07, 2014 @03:11AM (#8146581)
wow, VERY impressive. What you can do with that!!

I guess some of the old dusty GIS Enterprise Solutions, now _slowly_ have to start worrying about competition in such form (I know you can't compare it to a full Featured GIS, as a map is only a component of many many things that are required to be usefull). Current solutions are way behind and the moment when it comes to the presentation and manipulation of data (imho). They will have to up their game significantly to stay relevant.
