I agree with the other comments here that you're better off just hosting it yourself. Though, if you go down the path of considering commercial services check out y.gy (note: I'm affiliated). It would allow you to see where people are clicking from (Twitter, Reddit, etc.) and where they are clicking (city-level). It _could_ be useful depending on your traction.

dang: Your about bio says "Conflict is essential to human life, whether between different aspects of oneself, between oneself and the environment, between different individuals or between different groups" and that is exactly what is happening here. It's a fruitful discussion with a lot of nuance and yes, disagreement. Nothing here seems against guidelines

I love how this is a post about the European regulation of technology and people are arguing in the comment section about quality of life

"If they can’t ban products, then it’s not consumer protection: it’s just wealth extraction." Couldn't have said it better myself

Been using Intercom for most of my project as well, but it's expensive. If there was a good alternative, I would probably switch

Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Thursday January 19, 2023 @08:47PM (#34448208)
Hm -- don't think this is the case for legacy industries. It's just what they're used to and have been doing for years
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @02:44PM (#34431956)
What is an example of this? I don't work in real estate, but just based on the # of OCR companies for B2B PDF data extraction, I would imagine it's still a huge problem.
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @02:26PM (#34431661)
Thanks for sharing! Why do you think XMP isn't widely adopted yet?
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @02:23PM (#34431618)
But they want to pay extra for expensive OCR software to parse it out instead?
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @02:21PM (#34431587)
Thanks for sharing -- will dive deeper. This has been keeping me up at night recently...
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @01:49PM (#34431084)
Thanks for responding. I'm curious why PDF doesn't have any metadata attached to it that can easily be parsed out by machines. Sigh
Re:Why do we convert structured data to PDFs? on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @01:48PM (#34431063)
Shouldn't both exist? I.e. PDF for the human and data for the machine?
Re:Ask HN: What are your biggest frustrations with DocuSign? on Monday January 16, 2023 @03:06PM (#34404896)
Are you open to connecting over email? I'm considering digging deeper in the Open Source DocuSign rabbithole and would love to hear your thoughts on needs etc.
Probably just me being ignorant, but why are you not using Github for this?
I've never stored code on Dropbox. What's the use case for that? Why not store it only on Github?
Re:Fast.Ink: Turn PDFs into Processes on Wednesday January 11, 2023 @10:48AM (#34339745)
I spent the last 3 months talking to businesses in regulatory spaces (healthcare, fintech, etc.) and realized how manual paperwork processes can be. It's often sent over email, error-prone and when multiple stakeholders are involved, gets messy. I want to build a solution to improve it and have built a quick landing page to gauge which part of the paperwork process people are most frustrated with.

Would love any feedback or thoughts! Thanks :)

Re:Ask HN: What are your biggest frustrations with DocuSign? on Tuesday January 10, 2023 @07:06PM (#34333281)
If you have a one-time PDF that has to be signed, would you self-host to get it done? My hunch is that open-source solutions may only be useful to businesses. Wdyt?
Re:Ask HN: What are your biggest frustrations with DocuSign? on Tuesday January 10, 2023 @04:56PM (#34332132)
Wait is this an actual issue? Do you guys specify that it is strictly optional?
