Oh yeah, I meant legal rights. I don't disagree with you about the human right necessarily, I just haven't thought about it enough.
What I mean is, if you think about extreme situations, drug use will stop people from being able to provide you with legal rights. But forget about drug use, if everybody quit their job - which is totally legal - you wouldn't have any legal rights either.
And outside of the realm of people doing paid work, a child has the legal right to be raised by a non-abusive parent or guardian. If the parent is fucked up all the time, legally and at home, that child is having its rights infringed upon. Whether the government intervenes is another question.
The implication about whiteness and being rich goes the other way.
In practice, rights are protections provided by other people, and you can't provide them if you are too fucked up.
There are plenty of sources and the original papers are easily found, but there isn't a proper bibliography with links which I agree is frustrating. For example the first one says the last name of the author and the year: Andreasson and 1987. So I googled "Andreasson 1987 cannabis" and found the article:
http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-67...
Hope this helps.
I meant Unix, but I should have said unlike all Linux distros except Inspur K-UX. I thought there were more but WP doesn't list any and seems comprehensive otherwise.
My point was really that some/most of those complaints about "Unix" don't apply to OS X for most people and sound more like the pain that users running Linux have to deal with, even though it's not typically an official Unix. I hope this was more clear.
OS X is actually certified as a Unix, unlike many Linux distros.
Oh, that's interesting. Sorry for stereotyping you as a torrent user. What kind of large files are you downloading?
Also if you are prone to developing a psychotic disorder (prevalence of psychotic disorders is ~3%), pot consumption before the age of 20 increases the chances of it happening.
You can't print a joint at your computer.
Yeah, I agree that they should control for those things...
Your gracious replies here are awesome!
There's caffeine and sugar in it, seems reasonable, plus the pleasure of it means more endorphins. That's like three direct up-regulators of brain function.
I think you still have to ship it in a separate tree / binary, but I'm not sure. I don't think the exception means you can put my GPL function in your proprietary code and call it as long as you reveal the changes to my function. But I'm willing to settle for "who knows, really" :)
I worked a bit on Classpath but that was a long time ago. There are like, lots and lots of emails + irc logs to dig up about that little exception and what it means. Not having things tested in court is a problem, and the lack of funding for FSF lawyers is another.
The prevailing view that corporations benefit society the most simply by focusing on profits for shareholders is almost entirely philosophical (we cannot prove this, although many economists would probably like to).
Governments are large organizations that are supposed to represent and benefit everyone.
I'm also fine if you pull out bits of my code and use them in your codebase, just as long as you release the changes to those bits. Probably function-level granularity for separating mine from yours would work, and I don't expect you to write wrappers. Also automatically doing stuff with my code is fine.
I'm fine with static linking, it's even fine if you want to #include my source code. I never paid much attention to the MPL, will see, thanks.
I think this is wrong, distributing within an organization is not considered distribution under the GPL.
I think the restrictions on linking are the primary objection people have, and I guess also the patent stuff in v3. I would like to see a license that is weaker than LGPL (static linking allowed) and stronger than BSD. (For example, some projects are licensed as GPL+linking exception.) Basically, I'd like a license that said distributed modifications to the source code for this project must be open, but everything else is a free-for-all.
> Crucially, a user of GPL software is allowed to do whatever they want.
Except develop the software however they want.
His point was about whether the term "students" is qualified.
In theory you could tell the compiler to identify and statically link only those functions needed to make printf work (or a conservative approximation thereof).
Around 300 kB/sec lets you get 1GB/hour, which means you can get a perfectly watchable 1080p movie in 2 hours. Yes it's nice now that I have 3 MB/sec down, but it wasn't hell before and I lived with that for 10+ years. Many people still have this kind of connection - typically billed as 5000 down / 800 up. Streaming, I have no idea.

I can't remember there not being a minimum spend. I can remember back to 2005 I think.

A lot of people think that believing you're Jesus is some kind of grandiose delusion, but in the case of manic psychosis, it's simply the logical conclusion of all the super intense messages from the universe you're receiving.
