It is and I'm the OP, I did not check it clearly when I saw the video and posted it here. Apologies for this.

Searching on it goes to 1995 written post. I have not read this, just sharing: https://paws.kettering.edu/~jhuggins/humor/design.html
Re:Don't Write a Programming Language on Sunday February 27, 2022 @08:05AM (#30488022)
This is a really really half-backed article or half-a__ed experience.. Sorry it's getting on my nerves.

Please, do not ever preach someone that if you cannot do something.

Re:Ask HN: How do you get out of a rut? on Wednesday January 26, 2022 @04:53AM (#30083597)
This is a good thought and idea. I agree.

We need to step back and feel the bliss of small things that happens around that we miss to notice every day in life.

As it says above, don't put yourself under pressure on doing something. Just try to be aware about the things that you do every day. Taking a bath, having a meal -> Take a deep breathe do it slowly and enjoy it.

Then slowly slowly and eventually, you will come up with new perspective on how to approach life the way you want it to be. You will notice internally when this phase happens. All the very best!

Re:Underrated Reasons to Be Thankful on Friday November 26, 2021 @08:19AM (#29349975)
This is a sort of response that makes the conversation stink and as well has no optimal solution would come out.

  > I know that some people
I know that this writing will make no change in your bigoted perception but at-least it might to others. So, I'm writing it.

Addiction is NOT a choice, and it is a form of chemical imbalance that happens in our complex brain that makes the person get into addiction with any substance. It could be said like any other mental health illnesses. AND when the person who got addicted doesn't get enough support and the compassion (likely not from you) to the way where they can be able to stay away from their addiction, there is a possibility that such person could go worse.

Re:How to think clearly on Sunday June 13, 2021 @03:30AM (#27490563)
That is fine. Doing "practical" meditation and "real" meditation per se is not far-fetched.

All we need to be is with awareness. When you start feeling that - then that is what I would say meditation.

I walk, I do slow walking every night reflecting on things that had happened in the day or just walk in silence. That helps me to ease my pain and have more space to think what is important at the moment and make decisions.

In other words, this is also related to the original comment which says about "patience". It doesn't happen all at once, practicing with patience is the key for progress.

Re:No Design is the Best Design on Saturday June 05, 2021 @01:42PM (#27407072)
Good design is more subtle and sensitive and on purpose.

Each and every software user-interfaces has it's own constraints. It can be solved with a goal in mind that this software has to be accessible first without accumulating much of user's time to get themselves learn about on how to use it.

It's a bit trickiest thing, that that we take UI design as an art-form like a painting. It is different, good painting will evoke user's emotions in many ways. Whereas software UI design doesn't, instead it is there just to get the functionalities clear and concise for the user to do their work. That being said, UI design is an art-form in itself if we try to master it.

Re:Welcome to Auroville on Saturday May 09, 2020 @01:02AM (#23122451)
I have met many people from Auroville (or maybe Aurovillians as some would say).

I have a mixed feeling about Auroville too like some other comments here. I have visited couple times. But never actually got what they are trying to do. This is another part.

But I want to mention, TBH: It is like ANY OTHER ASHRAMS or communal living, I would say. Even to the one I visit often. People are different, sometimes they are nice and sometimes they behave downright silly and rude.

That said, it could be a practice if you take it that way :)

They are much more precious for you in the long run if you are into spiritual practice.

It's like Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo puts it "Instead of seeing other people as an obstacle to our path, we recognize that they are the path. That learning on how to deal skillfully especially with unskilfuled people is how we learn, how we grow and how to begin to mature."

The fact that you are acknowledging what you are feeling about others when they are in a miserable situation and the empathy that you show to them is a gift.

You don't need to research about this more! Just try to do what you can do to others :)

If you help others' you help yourself.

Re:New 13-inch MacBook Pro on Monday May 04, 2020 @09:00AM (#23067468)
Indeed. And the words that Apple puts to explain about their products is going really numb.

They should change their ambiguous tone and show the real progress in these mac.

I can absolutely get a better laptop at a reasonable price than these products and the features that offers and be more productive.

Re:Ask HN: How much coffee do you drink as a programmer? on Saturday April 25, 2020 @03:21AM (#22976356)
I drink around 7 to 8 times a day. People say it's bad, but who cares.. I'm just enjoying my coffee and a good smoke everyday.
This comment bothers me, given that it's in the top section of the comments list. We need to be having a bit of common sense in order to comment on this. That said, doesn't necessary need to be too thoughtful.

I say, We do need in-person interactions. And share our thoughts with others, I work in technology and often try to do this instead of virtual emoji handshake, because it gives me different perspective about life and how others are dealing with their problems. And more than all, to develop some empathy otherwise, life is just mundane.

Re:Minimalism conceals the messy realities of society on Sunday April 05, 2020 @07:29AM (#22785042)
Nicely written! I mean your comment on that point.

In Taoism, they say - accept the flow and about Yin-Yang philosophy.

> "And to me that's not gonna change the world"

This is a mystery. I'm from India, and I've read few Vedic texts where it says, all these elements we've accumulated and grown with, by elements I mean Father, Mother, Son, Wife, Mine, Not Mine are just aggregated and don't assign much significance.

This is to our rational minds seems really absurd! Hence it is a mystery that would unfold when you start delve into it deeply.

Thank you! Just got to notify that there is no profile picture upload on Sorcia. It just comes from Gravatar through the commiters email.

Maybe I can tweak the design later to show the DP a little bit larger for the next rolling release.

- I need help on generating a docker image. Would be great if someone contributes to this.

- Sure, I was thinking about that. Being this a self-hosted software, I should have used those vendor js libraries directly. But it was hyper fast when I used Cloudflare CDN that blinded my eyes. Anyways, I'll release a patch version today using the js libraries directly.

Yes, my main inspiration is cgit. I mostly followed that and written in Go with some improved UI(which is what I was deliberately wanted to do).
Hi, OP and author of the project here.

You could check the landing page of this project here: https://sorcia.mysticmode.org/

I've put up a FAQ and Features section with screenshots, so it is easy for you to look at it and see why I've built this software.

Re:Dealing with Loneliness on Monday January 06, 2020 @01:09AM (#21966921)
Yes, I think, loneliness can be coped with training our mind and body. It's a skill that could be developed by anyone.

If we does, then it treats us in various ways. And we find that tranquility in ourselves.

Your comment is very relevant to me especially regarding socializing. That too can be practiced :)

Re:Ask HN: What Technologies to Learn in 2020? on Sunday January 05, 2020 @11:09AM (#21961874)
This is a good point.

I would suggest the same, building something and let it pass out to the public or contributing to the existing projects that might be using the stack that you want to work with.

You learn a lot when you share your own work to others. Good life lessons or maybe career lessons are often learned when sharing something.

As someone said below, your anxiety or too much analysis has to be look at it in another level.

But as far as tech stack goes.. This is my opinion.

There is a lot going on, lots of new tools, technologies and resources coming along. But it is totally fine with what programming languages you are comfortable with at the moment IF you are going to do a side/hobby project.

Anyhow, you will have to iterate it a lot on the go. Honestly, some parts of it can be fun and some others wouldn't be. But you have to keep up with it in order to do the release.

So, I'd put this Addy Osmani's quote here: "First do it, then do it right, then do it better".

All the best!

> There was also a general lack of compassion on the part of many, many users.

Well put. This is what I've experienced with most of the stackoverflow communities. It WAS definitely better previously.

But I'm experiencing some trouble asking questions in certain tags where moderators are easily closing down or downvoting the question. Even I saw the person who answered my question replied in the thread that he/she doesn't understand why is it getting downvoted. People just don't stay on point. Neither do they refrain from their cocksure way of replying.

What the author says about the scope of the question is not there with answers or comments.

Re:Far Cry on Sunday December 08, 2019 @10:35AM (#21736374)
This is one novel presence of a topic. I just had a phone call with my friend talking about "Improving our craft and the mechanisms in detail". Well we discussed it in software perspective as we both work in this sector.

After having the call, I read this and firstly I thoroughly enjoyed how the author of the post had spelt his words about the game in such detail and comparing it with the philosophy. And how the creators of the game crafted the bits and pieces as though they think that they are bringing something new that the world had never seen before. Indeed, the article denotes that they did it pretty well.

This will really be my bookmarked reading again and again to put myself in an optimistic position.
